Last Christmas, I shared this editorial with all my FRiends here, while I was icebound in West Virginia heading back from leave to report for mobilization.
This year, at my station in Ramadi, Iraq, on Christmas morning, as tracer rounds thread the sky southeast of me, I offer this simple story, a very favorite of mine, for all my FRiends again. Take the time to read it - REALLY read it - and understand that Santa has visited your troops, and he left the greatest gift of them all.
A Soldier's Merry Christmas to you all!
I was just giggling remembering "Operation Jalopy Rescue" and you heard "Some Beach" for the first time and came back to the Canteen and requested it. LOL!!
Oh, good Lawsy, that's RIGHT!!! ROTFLMAO!!!
"Some Beach" - load that up, willya??
Thank you. Do stay in touch with us as time and conditions dictate. I am sure any in country analysis you can provide us with would be much appreciated. Lets face it. There is nothing like hearing from NCO and upward of the true condtions as time moves on in your AOR. Obviosly we cannot trust the stuff offered from lily white wrist reporters. Semper FI Sarg.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. That story is also a favorite of mine. Thanks for posting it.
Merry Christmas.
Thanks. Merry Christmas.
My husband and I had this discussion with our son last night. He's 26. His two siblings are married and we have one grandchild. Charlie was arguing that maybe we shouldn't encourage our granddaughter to believe in Santa Claus since she'll find out some day that he doesn't exist. We both told him that we do believe in Santa and all he stands for and my husband asked him whether there was any proof that someone who grew up not believing in Santa was any stronger or healthier and he said that fantasy was a part of mental and social development. Oh, well, this editorial says it so well.

Oh, it's such a simple formulation! I explained to my daughters that kids who don't believe in Santa only get clothes for Christmas.
It worked until they were twelve or so, when they started wanting clothes for Christmas!
By the way, I believe!
