Lets try this.. I believe that we are hearing from a small contingency of far left very vocal activist that are setting the agenda to keep us from talking to one another.. Perverted stuff like Hollywood Gay cowboys, swearing at our President, fighting for murderers and beating up the Boy Scouts, or unlimited welfare, and unemployment benefits that teach another generation that they are worthless..

They are no different than our own far right zealots that shame me occasionally, on personal stuff like praying in school, I don't want my kids praying in school or anywhere in public to prove a point, or cutting off our country with a friggin Berlin wall and an army shooting migrant workers at our boarders, we can find a better way it has to happen.. We can find a forum to talk if not here, then somewhere .. soon!

No way!

I even go the extent of refusing to do work on a building that a liberal owns, tell them why and that they are a POS to their face.

Carlos, you exposed yourself for who you are. Your problem is that you don't stand for anything and will fall for everything. You are a liberal, thinking that he is a Moderate, not that there is anything right with that. Come back when you cook up some Rocky Mountain Oysters!

Merry Jesus' Birthday

I agree and I think the way to go is to deal with issues individually on their merits and not as a monolith.

BTW I think the movie is a non-issue. Let the market decide. They made the movie for a few mill and it may struggle to make the expenses even with oscar buzz. If they want to make these movies and people pay to see them, that's the way the market crumbles. I can easilly survie with the latest car-cahse flick or my TiVo.

If I had children, I would want them to pray wherever they dammed well pleased.

Look, there are idiots on both sides, that cannot be denied. But there is also no getting around that fact that enemies cannot be negotiated with, they must be destroyed or rendered ineffective.

This country is in the middle of a culture war, and it is a war we dare not lose.

Carlo

I believe that your long track record on FR allows you a soapbox to speak from your heart. I presume that you have successfully completed surgery and have recovered enough to post on Christmas Eve, instead of worsening your blood pressure by watching the Texans (Oilers?).

My biggest problem with laying out areas of discussion is that the battle lines have shifted so much from my youth. Forget compromising on abortion; it is too divisive. What I think is a reasonable compromise was passed 30 years ago. And I am still young.

I do believe that our political discussions have degenerated into a religious disagreement that can have no compromise. (See the latest PLO/Arab/Iranian suggestions for the health and wellbeing of Israel for an example of how it may become here).

Some more areas that we can discuss:

1) Get the bad guys off the streets so they don't prey on our citizens.

2) Keep repairing the safety net in society by balancing government and private redistribution of wealth. It is way out of balance today and contributes to much of the malaise that we live in each day.

3) As for FR, download and run Folding@Home as Team 36120 so we can together work to beat disease and advance medicine.

There is more we can discuss, but I am a slow thinker. Need to get ready for the Christmas Eve services at church.

Merry Christmas, Carlo.
