This text is from a county emergency manager out in the western part of North Dakota state after the recent snow storm.

WEATHER BULLETIN Up here in the Northern Plains we just recovered from a Historic event --- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI: * George Bush did not come.... * FEMA did nothing.... * No one howled for the government... * No one blamed the government * No one even uttered an expletive on TV... * Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit * Our Mayor's did not blame Bush or anyone else * Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else either * CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snow storm * Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards..... * No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.... * No one looted.... * Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something * Nobody expected the government to do anything either * No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera * No Shaun Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found And * Nope, we just melted the snow for water * Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars * The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny * Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snow bound families * Families took in the stranded people - total strangers * We Fired up wood stoves * Broke out coal oil lanterns or coleman lanterns * We put on an extra layer of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die" * We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks. * Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early...we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves. "In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about 48 degrees North Latitude, 90% most of the world's social problems evaporate."

This snow quagmire is indicative of global warming. Bush didn't sign the Kyoto Treaty...ergo, this is Bush's fault.

MSM and the libs will push all that aside by simply saying, "Yeah, but you're above sea-level!!!"

Western North Dakota ... probably the only area in the contiguous 48 states where a storm of biblical proportions could occur and no one, except a few lonely truck drivers on I-90, would have a clue.

So do most of the people.

What? No live shots of shivering CNN reporters being blown into snowbanks?

I'm disappointed.

Oh come on, getting a snow storm is a bit different than an over populated city being under water.

You still had a home to hide in, water to drink, food to eat and a way to keep warm. Doesn't compare.

---they'd have too difficult a time keeping the "angry" expression that they were told to use in New Orleans--

Certainly you can't expect the liberal mdeia to fly up there and be inconvenienced by the 'chill in the air'. At least New Orleans was warm...

You missed the whole point, didn't you?

Have you ever been in -10 degrees? Have you ever been stranded on a highway, due to 8 foot snow drifts, and high winds creating blizzard conditions?

I didn't think so...

This is an ironic juxtaposition, to the whiners in the huricane zones... and better illustrates true American independence, not socialism, such as we have seen surrounding the wetting of NO...

Did ya notice that a bus strike in NYC got top billing!!!!

I am so sick of reading about how tough it is to live in NYC, BOS, Chicago, LA, etc, etc, etc. Reporters and reporterettes need to come out west where real men and women live.

It was not the same kind of tragedy at all, not even close. When the snow and ice melted the homes were all intact and perfectly livable. I will grant you that the residents of ND are a lot different than a lot of the residents of NO but other than that it was a VERY different situation. I met a doctor in Houston yesterday who lost everything and won't be going back to NO. For so many there is nothing to go back to.
