Welk Band Enjoying Popular Resurgence
STRASBURG, ND ( SBNS) -- Against a backdrop of unrelenting Chicken-Little angst, and constant hair-pulling by the Loony-Left over claimed 'risks of disastrous global warming', recent reports say that the Lawrence Welk Band, long one of America's big band polka favorites, is experiencing a remarkable popular resurgence in the North. Pressed for additional details, our correspondents were unable to explain either why 'some' Northern residents do not appear terribly concerned over the purported risks of 'global warming', nor to attribute any one cause for the Welk Band's rapidly growing popularity, saying only that, in BOTH cases, "the signs were unmistakable". We will of course update this story for our readers, as soon as further information becomes available.

A common-sense contribution, from our neighbors to the North...?

You know...i could get a real kick, out of going to see
a band that could put it out like Benny Goodman and
Glenn Miller... i mean a full fledged big band, doing
their tunes, in a music hall, to get the full effect
of what it was like to hear the original bands.
...I've got 'one o'clock jump', running through
my head right now.

I think the Dhimmicrats and other so-called liberals (tree-huggers, Luddites, trust fund tramps) should be at least a little disturbed because Welk's reruns are found on PBS -- and not during pledge drives.
Let's all make 2006 a great election year, and I hope to see bin Laden's head on a pole right around Halloween.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and blessed other appropriate holiday to everyone.

Then the next time you're anywhere close, you ought to see the current incarnation of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, led by Larry O'Brien, who is a super nice guy and, in fact, better with his horn than Glenn was, does a lot of Tommy Dorsey-style soloing. People who think you have to have 100-watt Marshall amplifiers and a roomfull of Celestion speakers to rock out need to hear a 17-piece big band at full tilt with the brass hitting you right in the face. Good stuff.

I was lucky enough to see Ella Fitzgerald before she died, backed by the Count Basie Orchestra. The Count's son was conducting, and they used all the original charts and arrangements. Absolutely stunning! Ella scatting "A Night In Tunisia" over the Basie band's wailing...I could have died happy right then and there.

Heh... talking about Saudi Arabia in the "champagne music" topic is deliciously naughty. Maybe a little subtle. But anyway...
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. Looks like cremation is the way to go there. Heh heh again...
