I can understand your concern about it being scripted, but I really don't think it was. It didn't sound that way at all. Have you visited his site?
It is just too perfect.
His uncle has nothing better to do it sounds like.
BTW, Justin, I have a similar problem since my parents are both liberal. However, since I don't live at home anymore, I don't have confrontations. When I visit my folks I avoid conflict by not talking about politics. Actually, when I did live at home, I was also a liberal so no real conflicts in that area. I only changed when I moved away.
Must read this later
Thanks for posting this transcript. I was mostly listening today to Rush, but only caught some of this conversation.
That poor kid. Unfortunately, if he goes on to academentia, he'll likely get more of the same, only industrial-strength.
Perhaps the key here is what I'm gonna call "respectful demand"; I sorta made a study of Condi Rice, facing various libjerks. She, of course, was much more respectful than I'm being, now! And she never, ever lost her grace, dignity, composure, nor her concise articulate power. But she's had many decades of practice, which our Justin does not.
And one major thing I learned from watching Condi is this:
she would listen respectfully, and then demand, politely, the same treatment. If her tormentors strayed off the topic, she'd interrupt- politely- saying, "Let's be clear ..." and then proceed to define the problem and her respectful response. Always polite, persistent, and respectful (as I think she wrote, somewhere)- PPR.
I've tried this, and with the worst of the worst- humanities professors who rant and rage against Mr. Bush- always they assume if I am silent, I agree!!! Pretty arrogant, huh!
I time them, and then I let 'em have it, right between the ears- but politely, saying something like, "I've politely listened to you for the past XX minutes, and now you must reciprocate by listening, politely, to me." If they fuss and fume, I just nod sadly. I've got to find something clever to add as a parting shot, if they won't be fair. Fairness is not their strong suit, usually.
So, it's PPR for them.
Good Job!
How did you manage to get on the show today? Thousands try every day. Interesting that you could get on in this season, when hearts are full of good sentiment, so that you could get your story out.
Hasn't RealTeen convinced you yet? Plus his Blog checks out.
Welcome and there is nothing wrong with a teen lurking on FR for news.
Question???
By any chance, do your liberal relatives rely on any part of their income from government related jobs or unions?
Like a government employee, teacher and so forth...?
Welcome, RT.........we were listening to you this afternoon and i for one was extrememly impressed with your composure and ability to say what you wanted to say. It's a shame there is no debating team at your school.....you would be a huge asset.
Merry Christmas.

This is a fine photoportrait, as far as it goes. However, where are the matching ring, bracelets, brooch, necklace, and purse?
LOL. Ain't that the truth!

fwiw, it just did not pass the smell test when I read it. I may be way off base. Time will tell.
You did a great job with Rush today, and your blog is well thought out. Im glad to see you here.
Can't wait to listen to the podcast of this!
Yeah, I couldn't resist throwing the picture up for fun only because I have an endless sense of humor about almost anything, (not screwing with the war though).
"Both my parents (who are fantastic) are recovering hippies that used to parade me in anti-war parades with a black arm band when I was 2."
I saw a hilarious Australian film on this!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I could remember the title. Maybe you wrote it?!
Welcome, Justin. You want to sharpen your debating skills? You have come to the right place. If you have any other conservative friends, have them check out FR. They are NOT alone...not by a long shot.
