I always tell the kids that Santa is really a guy named Nicholas that lived long ago. He was so full of the love of God that he spent his whole life doing good things for other people and giving gifts. He healed the sick, raised the dead and proclaimed the good news of Jesus Christ everywhere he went. He's still alive, because he lives with Jesus in heaven now, like all believers, and we will meet him face to face one day soon. Today, we give each other gifts because we love each other like Jesus loves us.

So Santa Claus is real, and he's not in competition with Jesus for the focus of Christmas. Tell these stories to the kids who don't believe in Santa anymore!!

There was a small Greek Orthodox Church near the WTC. It was named for Saint Nicholas and contained a relic from his body.

The Church was crushed under the WTC debris which fell upon it. However, I understand it is to be rebuilt.
