"Hiring illegal immigration is a modern form of virtual slavery."
Piffle. Living in the Southwest all my life I've encountered lots of illegals and none of them thought they were slaves. They endured a great deal of discrimination, but they worked hard for the sake of their families back home, and never lost their pride.
And most of them ended up learning quite a bit of English, even if it wasn't their first language.
Let them acclimatize, and their children will grow up being English-speakers (though they will still use Spanish at home).
We've lost 43 million people in this country in the last 30 years due to abortion; we can afford to gain 5 million from immigration--people who WORK, don't want to become generational welfare recipients, and who share conservative family values. (More Hispanics are voting Republican than ever before.)
Where did that number come from? I have never seen 5 million used for anything. Illegals number about 11 million by all accounts. Legal immigration, which we are not talking about (and you conveniently omit) is set by Congress.
And most of them ended up learning quite a bit of English, even if it wasn't their first language.
Then why do we need government forms printed in spanish?
Let them acclimatize, and their children will grow up being English-speakers (though they will still use Spanish at home).
Prove it.

At what cost to our system? What will the next Republican candidate have to promise the hispanic lobby in order to retain GW's 40% vote?
