NEW YORK--A man who wrote a column for the Wall St. Journal critical of New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has now reported receiving a threatening telephone call from Spitzer.
John Whitehead, former chairman of Goldman, Sachs, and chairman of the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. reports receiving a call from Spitzer, telling him, "It's now a war between us...I will be coming after you."
You will pay the price. This is only the beginning and you will pay dearly for what you have done. You will wish you had never written that
The call from Spitzer was in response to a column in the April 22, 2005 Wall St. Journal entitled "Mr. Spitzer Has Gone Too Far - Post-9/11 NY cannot afford to drive away corporate investors."
In that column, Whitehead expressed concerns that Spitzer was allowing his office to leak damaging information about former AIG CEO and Chairman Maurice "Hank" Greenberg and others "before any charges have been brought."
Spitzer, considered the front-runner for New York's Governor in 2006, has come under increasing criticism from some circles for what some view as "politically motivated" prosecutions of New York business leaders.
In November, the New York Daily News reported that Spitzer was using fines and settlements obtained from these prosecutions to hand out "millions of dollars to politically connected organizations that could boost his campaign for governor in 2006."
Spitzer denies that politics play a role in his office's activities.
Spitzer is the hero of the MSM, but in reality he's nothing but a jack-booted thug who's as full of himself as a person can get. Spitzer is running for governor of Screwed York by persecuting business, and of course the leftist dolts of New York love that. The fact is, these same leftists who love Spitzer and call Bush a "fascist" should take a look at their boy Elliot to see who the real fascist turd is.
He has continually over-stepped his bounds and abused his power, even going after mutual fund operators ILLEGALLY when oversight of mutual fund operators is the job of the federal govt, specifically the SEC. Fortunately a federal judge swatted down Der Fuhrer Spitzer and temporarily made him retreat into his little rathole on that one anyway.
So it doesn't surprise me that the Nazi low-life Spitzer is now going after writers who dare criticize what a power-hungry tyrannt he is. If Screwed York votes for this vile man, they deserve the Nazi-like governance they'll get at his hands.
I'm shocked to learn that prosecutions by E. Spittle might be politically motivated - shocked I tell you.
Don't forget Spitzer's daddy made his money in real estate; Boy Wonder has been curiously lax in going after THAT industry, for all his zeal against financial companies.
And where was he during this transit strike?
Which is exactly why he will win in a landslide. The socialists just love it when you drive businesses into the ground.
Separated at Birth?
You decide...
Is he a dimbo?
Sounds like a little chuckie schumer to me.
A dick.
Gee, ya think?Funny how spitzer's friends in the press include "in some circles" and "some think." I rewrote it the way they would have said the same about Bush.
Literally lol...
"Mean man, I have always thought this."
Mean, arrogant and thuggish leftist.
Good olde FREE REPUBLIC. I've read down the posts replies. This place is information central.
Punching out an attorney general is always a risky proposition. They have the law on their side.
