December 22, 2005 -- A furious Brooklyn judge yesterday threatened to toss transit-union leaders in jail for ignoring his injunction against a walkout calling it a "distinct possibility."
In a stunning announcement on the second day of the transit strike, Supreme Court Justice Theodore Jones ordered Roger Toussaint, head of Transport Workers Union Local 100, and union bigs Ed Watt and Darlyne Wilson to be in his court at 11 a.m. today.

The irresponsibility and selfishness of these racketeers...
Even after the national told them not to do it-and a third of his executive board voted against it-that scumbag Toussaint decides to violate the law and paralyse a good portion of the city.

Actually, the MTA is taking control of the private bus companies:
New York City and the Transit Alliance reached an agreement on the transfer of the remaining private subsidized bus companies Green Bus, Jamaica Bus, Triboro Coach and Command Bus companies to the MTA, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the Transit Alliance announced Wednesday.
With the deadline staring them in the face, the city and the Transit Alliance signed a contract providing for the transition of the franchise bus service to be completed by February 20, 2006. After two years there is now a definitive timetable.
According to the agreement, Command Bus will be transferred to the MTA on December 5, Green Bus on January 9, Jamaica Bus on January 30 and Triboro on February 20.

They went on strike two days before their public sector counterparts.
I think the threat of being thrown in jail might have spurred this.
A "media blackout?"
You've got to be kidding me!
I used to take the Green Bus in Rockaway. Service was horrid then, couldn't get much worse under MTA's control.
