Freedom of, NOT from Religion

Freedom of, NOT from Religion

If you listen to the ACLU, the Constitution says that our founding fathers intended there to be a great barrier between Church and State. That placing a Manger or even a Christmas tree is a direct endorsement of religion.

For this reason, I recommend you do not listen to the ACLU, rather listen to the Constitution itself. I challenge you to find “separation of church and state” in the Constitution. What the constitution actually has to say is this; in the first amendment the Constitution promises that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” What the constitution really says is that Congress should not make any law that established religion, or prohibit free exercise thereof. Someone please explain to me how placing a Christmas tree on public property has anything to do with Congress establishing religion. The Constitution also says that the free exercise of religion may not be prohibited. Christmas Carols are being pulled from schools, and all inclusive “Multi-cultural Holiday parties” are shooting up in schools everywhere. Washington DC for some time even had a National “Holiday Tree”

Having Christmas decorations (along with other holiday décor) on public property IS free exercise of religion, being told you cannot do the latter IS a violation of our right to exercise religion freely. Children are being told in schools that their holiday, Christmas, must play second fiddle to other Holidays. Because as liberals see it, Christmas and Christians had their time, and was “Dominant” for some time, and now during this age of “Tolerance” we must accept all holidays.

I agree all Holidays should be accepted, but the simple fact is that the less celebrated holidays are being not only tolerated, but thrown ‘in your face.’ While Christmas is “Offensive” to atheists. Someone please tell me how the message of love, salvation, peace and forgiveness are offensive.

To find a Christmas tree and menorah offensive is something only an atheist can conjure up. We have the rule in this nation of majority rules, (unless of course you are in the US senate) so why does an entire community have to pander to the wanting of a few atheists who find trees with lights, and candles offensive. If they were truly interested in equality, and not advantage to themselves, they would not be doing this at all. And if it really bothers them, they can erect a statue of Michael Newdow next to the Christmas tree.

To not allow a child to celebrate their Holiday in a public school, to not allow them to say the words “Holy Night” or not allow a Christmas party, along with other parties, is a violation of our first amendment rights of free expression, free speech and yes, Freedom of, NOT freedom from religion.

God Bless and I wish you all a very merry Christmas, and a happy Hanukah and New Year.

Unfotunately for many of us of faith here in the U.S., this issue has been reduced to who has more money to spend on more attorneys who have more (paid) time available to pursue this issue in the courts.

The ACLU and those who intend the removal of our Constitutional Right of Freedom of Religion oppose the Constitution, when you think about this. They're enemies of our American Constitution and not defenders of it.

The country was FOUNDED upon this overriding motivation at the time of seeking and securing the Freedom of Religion: you're free to say and believe as you will, to disbelieve as you will, to stay home on Sunday or go to Church on Wednesday if that's what you determine for your beliefs in this regard.

The Constitution DOES NOT say that some people can prevent others from exercising their Constitutional freedoms. But, with court time and a lot of money to spend on this, the ACLU just keeps on chipping away at the Constitution. This is one Freedom that should never be modified, but it already has been, to our loss.

This kind of crap would have never come up except for the fact that the majority has a history in this country has an unpleasant history of deciding that only their symbols are fit for display on public grounds. We did this to ourselves over the years. That doesn't absolve the sheer childishness of athiests and certain other minority groups along with the courts but it does shed a little light on their behavior.

The country was FOUNDED upon this overriding motivation at the time of seeking and securing the Freedom of Religion:

That may hold true for the early Puritans (who immediately persecuted everyone who didn't toe their line) but it's just not a historical fact for the country in general. The majority of immigrants didn't come here citing religous freedom.

However, the public square is going to become very crowded with the symbols of religions ranging from Christian, to Muslim to Satanic.

I don't understand how we have come to a point where freedom of religion has come to mean that individuals lose their right of religious express the moment they set foot on public property.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”

You don't have to be much of a legal genius to figure that one out. How that became "separation of church and state" is a great mystery to me.

Freedom of religious expression obviously ends as soon as there are unwilling recipients of this expression [if only for the sake of good manners]. Unwilling recipients are normally expected to be found on public property. At least that's my understanding of it.

How the Left stole Christmas

Twas, the months before Christmas. When all through our land
Not a Christian was praying nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas  - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a "Holiday."

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing  folks down to the floor just to get it.
CDs from Madonna, X BOX and  I-pods
Something was changing, something quite odd.
Retailers promoted  Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Target was hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was not to be found.

At K Mart and Staples at Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, On Rather, on Kerry, on  Clinton
To the top of the Senate, they rose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matters.

And we spoke not a word, as they slapped our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before started.

So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream  Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me!
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say,
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

"6th Circuit Judge Richard Suhrheinrich wrote in the unanimous decision: "The ACLU makes repeated reference to the 'separation of church and state.' This extra-constitutional construct has grown tiresome. The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state. Our nation's history is replete with governmental acknowledgment and in some cases, accommodation of religion."

Love the news! The 6th Circuit court stuck it's thumb in the ACLU's eye and told them to set down and shut the crap up! There "IS" no separation between church and state!
