"I like the guy. He is one of the top preachers in the nation."

I tend to agree with you. I'm not a religious person, but I still enjoy watching portions of Joel Osteen's sermons televised each Sunday morning in Houston. I watch because Osteen's message is always positive and uplifting.

I have no idea about their personal lives or the finances of the Lakewood Church, but it appears that Victoria has some anger management issues.

Hell hath no fury like a woman spilt upon? Or something along those lines.

That's probably why he appeals, as he's not really so religious either. I've watched him a couple of times and he didn't have a lot to say about God, much less Jesus, but had a whole lot to say about Joel Osteen. When he gives examples, the bar he uses to measure by is himself.

I think his ministry can be summed up as, "The Church of 'It's All Good.'"

When everything you hear from the pulpit makes you feel good, then you know something is wrong. If you are not a Christian, you might not realize the importance of this, but the truth of the matter is God's Word often makes us very uncomfortable, which should be a way to make us search our hearts and minds so we can see where we need adjustments in our character and so on.
