A simple Theory: How did the Dems Lose It so completely?
self | 12-20-2005 | WL-Law

It's clear to Freepers that the success of the Iraqi elections has totally confounded the Left and the MSM. I won't re-hash the idiotic statements of Dean, Kerry, Pelosi -- the real question is, how could they, as seasoned political pros, have been so politically stupid?

I think the answer is simple. The Dems were willing to run off the cliff because they became convinced that the polling numbers showed that Bush was finally vulnerable.

This was a mistake for so many reasons:

1) the polling numbers themselves was a shimera, the result of virtual push-polling by the MSM, who published false and negative stories and then quickly polled to capture the instant reaction to their stories; they were not capturing deep opinions, only reactions to staged facts;

2) The Dems have made the even deeper mistake of confusing the Bush adminstration with the Clinton administration. Under Clinton, polling numbers were the fundamental reality -- policy decisions and directions were driven by pre-polling of voter reactions, and as a result policy was built from poll to poll, without any larger strategic vision. The Bush administration has, of course, rejected that (dishonest) approach to governing altogether.

Therefore, when the polls numbers went temporarily 'south', it had apocalyptic meanings (for Bush) in the Dem's world, and meant very little (in terms of policy approach) in the Bush administration.

The Bush policies had been built on long term, real success objectives.

So --we have the Dems marching off the cliff, based on their poll reading, at the ironic point where the Bush adminsitration's long-term success goals were just about to be realized and vindicated. The fact that they were going to be realized was apparent to careful observers (read: Freepers), but not to the public that is only fed news by the MSM, since the Iraq success stories (i.e., the Anbar campaign successes) were so carefully buried and unreported.

In the end, the astonishing myopia of the dems is still causing us to rub our eyes in disbelief.

The dems don't realize that they have not presented a, who do you believe, Bush or Democrat choice? But a Bush or Al Queda choice.

Excellent deep pondering.

The truth will win out in the end but it is a battle and it is not over yet.

"chimera", I believe.
See an earlier post on FR re: the president playing "rope-a-dope" with the left wing, giving them enough rope to do themselves in.

The Dim's only have 2 objectives: Unfettered abortion, and 'get Bush' and by extention, Republicans.

They are still outraged over Slick getting impeached over his antics, they want payback so bad it colors everything they do.

There are reasonable folks in the Demcrat ranks, but they are way drowned out by the bellowing nonsense of the moonbats. Too bad for them and their party.

The far left's blind hatred for anything conservative or Republican and for George Bush in particular clouds their judgement. They would do tremendous damage to this country if they knew it would hurt the President. They truly have become unpatriotic.

the real question is, how could they, as seasoned political pros, have been so politically stupid?

The answer is really simple. The democrats have positioned themselves such that anything good for America is bad for the democrats. They are forced to take a position and hope for events that are detrimental to America for hopes of winning elections.

If an event is good for America it is bad for the democrats.

Period.

As further evidence of the democrats position against American success, especially in Iraq is the vote on HR 612 last Friday.

What was HR 612? HR 612 was a resolution "Expressing the commitment of the House of Representatives to achieving victory in Iraq."

Number of democrats that voted against this... 108!

108 elected democrats in the House of Representatives are on record opposing the victory of America in Iraq.

Can we question their patriotism yet?

A very good point . . I'm happy to see GWB get his approval number up to 47 again.

The democrats have made 3 strategic mistakes:

A) Betting against the American economy.
B) Betting against the worlds greatest military.
C) Bitching about the weather.

What can the libs do?

Stop the creepy old rich guys that are running your party off a cliff.

Compare that to planning of the Clinton administration to make him the next Elvis.

I think you need to add into that mix the Howard Dean factor. His own gaffes and contradictions aside, he is not showing any party leadership or discipline. It's very obvious that few, if any, of the elected 'rats respect his position or allow him to set the agenda. (Say what you want about MacAffle, he at least was able to "ride herd" effectively.)

As a result, the 'rat party line is essentially being set by those who are moaking the most noise, which means the moonbat faction. More sensible 'rats are caught between a rock and a hard place -- they either have to go along with the moonbats or start an intra-party war, either way, they're being weakened.

Two reasons:
1. Howard Dean, internet fundraising and concentrated lefty websites gave the loony left some appearance of power, which the party believed.
2. The internet, talk radio and FoxNews combined to threaten the left's dominance of the media, which caused liberals to believe that they needed to become more shrill in order to protect their "turf".
