Presidential War Power, Democrat Hypocrisy and Times' Irresponsibility
The Post Chronicle ^ | 12/20/05 | Michael J. Gaynor

"As President and Commander-in-Chief, I have the constitutional responsibility and the constitutional authority to protect our country. Article II of the Constitution gives me that responsibility and the authority necessary to fulfill it. And after September the 11th, the United States Congress also granted me additional authority to use military force against al Qaeda."

So said President Bush, on December 19, 2005, in prepared remarks preceding his press conference.

"[R]ight after September the 11th, I knew we were fighting a different kind of war. And so I asked people in my administration to analyze how best for me and our government to do the job people expect us to do, which is to detect and prevent a possible attack. That's what the American people want. We looked at the possible scenarios. And the people responsible for helping us protect and defend came forth with the current program, because it enables us to move faster and quicker. And that's important. We've got to be fast on our feet, quick to detect and prevent. "We use FISA still -- you're referring to the FISA court in your question -- of course, we use FISAs. But FISA is for long-term monitoring. What is needed in order to protect the American people is the ability to move quickly to detect.

Rockerfeller sends a letter in July '03 expressing "concerns" over the program to VP Cheney and this is the RATS way to distance themselves. LOL. The program started in the beginning of '02 so what took Rockerfeller so long to object, over a year and a half?

It took that long for the MSM media machine to alter post 9-11 sentiments enough to where the Dems could start politicizing things.

Went over to the du, and the lefty loons have their impeachment hats on. This will be their new battle call. Bush violated the Constitution, broke the law and needs to be impeached. The fact that GWB held 12 meeetings with congress critters about this program will be ignored. Believe me folks, the crazies will be lathered up over this.

If it turns out that the President is on solid ground on this one, the GOP needs to turn out another video with the sound bites of biden, levin, pullousy, boxer, kenedy, et al.

Her is the e-mail address of the DOJ.

I just sent them a message to start an immediate investigation of the New York Slimes.
They have committed TREASON again.

The NY Slimes in order to push the Risen book redirected the focus from success's in Iraq to lets "hate Bush".Very clever!
The cash flow from foreign anti American sources is threatened by the Patriot Act.
Its all about the money.

DemocRATS think there is a constitutional right to have private conversations with Al Qaeda. WRONG. If you are talking on the telephone with terrorist enemies of the United States, your call will be monitored.

What do you IF? It is already proven the President has done no wrong here. The rules he followed and the actions he took are perfectly legitimate. Clinton himself used the same powers during his terms but of course the MSM is failing to mention those facst. All this BS is simply a ploy to take people's minds off of the success in Iraq, we can't have the people thinking Bush was right about Iraq now can we. The elections have set off a sh** storm of Dem activity to try to mask how great the elections really were and what the mean.
