Bamford is as political as it gets. He leans just left of Michael Moore in his writings on Bush (His new book, and the one before it about the NSA and Bush). Plus he isn't as informed about the Agency as he would like people to believe.

Yes, that's the impression I've gotten from the comments on the thread, regarding his political leanings. While I'd heard of The Puzzle Palace, I hadn't read it, so wasn't familiar with his take on things.
