Unfortunately Mr. Harper's people are focused on same-sex marriage and on snagging that $1200 per year per toddler that Mr. Harper is throwing out from his speeding limo, than they are anything else. The entire Conservative party, apparently, will sell itself for a $100 per month per baby allowance.

You're missing the point.
The Liberals have set it up so that parents who use government approved daycare are subsidized. No other parents benefit from this!
All us other parents/taxpayers contribute to the 'government' child care.
Beyond which, they don't have enough spaces for all children under 6, but we are only subsidized if we use 'their' childcare.
Disclosure...My children are over 6 years old. It will not benefit me personally.

It won't benefit me at all either -- all I get is the invoice.
All the "conservatives" I know are focused solely on SSM, abortion and getting that $100 per month per kiddie. Nothing else seems to move the needle on the applause meter.
Here in Toronto we have rats, cooties, bed bugs, contaminated water and gunfire to deal with. I would think that would be enough for most people. No wonder the Muslims feel right at home here.

Hopefully the residents there can see through that nonsense and elect Bob Dechert, but it appears unlikely :(
