Rush Limbaugh - Live Thread Monday December 19th
Rush Limbaugh.com ^

Posted on 12/19/2005 8:35:20 AM PST by MNJohnnie

Gee Wonder what Rush is going to talk about today? The way Bush just slapped the White House Press Corp around this morning? They have made a SERIOUS error. Bush is pissed.

Or maybe THIS? Simply amazing all the angst in the Failed Media because NSA listened into the coversations of 1,000 or so Al Qeda symps.

Here is the law from another thread tonight.

The pertinent law is 50 USC 1802. Everyone, please read it carefully. No law was broken. Pelosi admits she was briefed (also in accordance with 50 USC 1802):

1802. Electronic surveillance authorization without court order; certification by Attorney General; reports to Congressional committees; transmittal under seal; duties and compensation of communication common carrier; applications; jurisdiction of court Release date: 2005-03-17

(a) (1) Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for periods of up to one year if the Attorney General certifies in writing under oath that—
(A) the electronic surveillance is solely directed at— (i) the acquisition of the contents of communications transmitted by means of communications used exclusively between or among foreign powers, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title; or
(ii) the acquisition of technical intelligence, other than the spoken communications of individuals, from property or premises under the open and exclusive control of a foreign power, as defined in section 1801

(a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title; [e.g., defined as terrorists /angkor]

(B) there is no substantial likelihood that the surveillance will acquire the contents of any communication to which a United States person [e.g. citizen or perm. resident /angkor] is a party; and

(C) the proposed minimization procedures with respect to such surveillance meet the definition of minimization procedures under section 1801 (h) of this title; and if the Attorney General reports such minimization procedures and any changes thereto to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence at least thirty days prior to their effective date, unless the Attorney General determines immediate action is required and notifies the committees immediately of such minimization procedures and the reason for their becoming effective immediately.

Does anybody else think that Rush uses Free Republic for his show prep?

Nah. If he did he would have been on this Echelon stuff last Friday.

It was pointed out to me that perhaps I was wrong. 50 USC 1802 is a piece of it, but doesn't specifically address "terrorists" so far as anyone can tell.

Apparently there's a classified Executive Order out there, it may make the needed adjustments. Dunno.

Yes yes yes!!!

"you mean the guy who inserted the phrase'Unchecked (Presidential) Power' into his otherwise unremarkable question"

President Bush demolished this guy! pointing a finger at him was just too choice after this weenie thought he was being oh so cute slipping in that "unchecked power" jab. President Bush was having none of it.

Do you know what publication the guy was with? I do hope Rush plays the clip. I believe Bush called him "Peter". even that made me laugh! CBS John Roberts wanted to be sooooo clever with his opening, "So many questions, so little time", Roberts opined. Bush whacked him down to size by saying, "then keep your questions short!

I don't think it hurts Tony. I would say it brought more listeners.

The caption is what gets me.

Ginger Rogers, it is said, did everything Fred Astaire did—backward and in high heels. In a similar fashion, Davis, as the steely-spined first woman President on ABC's Commander in Chief, once defused a crisis while dancing with the President of Russia. Does the drama's success bode well for Hillary or Condi? They'd have big shoes to fill.

I don't think the people over at TIME know that Geena Davis is a FICTIONAL PRESIDENT!

exclusively between or among foreign powers, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title; or

The above is the rub. 50 USC 1802 doesn't specifically address "terrorists" as defined in 1801(a)(4). So - sorry to say - it probably isn't pertinent.

First there was "Don't ask, Don't tell." Now Walid Phares describes a new one ...

I agree. Tony is so honest with us. He will not lie or lie by ommission. I enjoy listening while reading his LIVE thread.

I just can't see Rush participating in LIVE thread. However, I wonder if he posts under another name!

Listening to ABC Radio News.

"Bush is eavesdropping on AMERICANS" (not terrorists, or potential terrorists)

They can kiss my rear end.
