'White flight' in Boulder

so what! it's a free country... parents are free to educate their children as they see fit... (most parents, unfortunately, do not realize this, though)...

Well, we can't have people going to school where they want to go to school, can we?

You don't understand. We are talking about Boulder Colorado and these whites are liberals. Liberals are against choice (unless it regards an abortion).

Or how about all the liberals in Congress and the Senate who do not send their kiddies to public schools? Do the Clintons also come to mind?

I take it he's suggesting Hispanics can't learn unless a bunch of white kids are around. If a Hispanic kid is surrounded by a lot of other Hispanics, he can't achieve. This seems to me to impliedly support white flight: once you get a critical mass of Hispanics in a school, it's not conducive for anyone, of any race or ethnicity, to learn. Of course, the liberal solution isn't to get Hispanics in majority Hispanic schools to stop fighting and hit the books. It's to force white kids to step into an educational abyss and hope the mix somehow improves Hispanic performance (to hell with what it does to the whites).

I think otherwise. All-white or all-Asian schools are almost always going to significantly outperform all-Hispanic or all-black schools. Is anyone aware of substantial evidence suggesting any inconclusiveness on this point?

Mr. Howe: have you ever considered that rather than the state of being poor causing low test scores, that it may be the case that lower than average intelligence might tend to make one "economically disadvantaged"? I.e., there may be a certain amount of hard-wired, genetics to this rather than the liberal insistence on poor environment?

"At Columbine, Hispanic kids and poor kids are mostly the same. Hispanics were 82.9 percent of the students in 2004-05, while 83.2 percent of the school's students were eligible for free or reduced-cost lunch.

"Columbine received a rating of low - one step above unsatisfactory - on state school report cards issued Dec. 6. Three nearby, mostly Anglo, schools were rated average, high and excellent."

Because the white kids were better off financially than the Hispanic kids, or because the white kids (and their parents) are more intelligent? Before you can remedy a problem, you need to know the cause of the problem.

At least they are Christian. If this happens with Muslims our nation will be near the end.
