Bogus question since under the War Powers Act he can take the country to war without the approval of Congress. He must report back to them within, I believe, 6 months.
NASA, Mr. President!? LOL! NSA!
Didn't get a chance to hear the speech but this just about says it all:
Bush asserted he has ``the constitutional authority'' to protect the country. ``We need to connect the dots before the enemy attacks, not after,'' he said. The eavesdropping is aimed at ``people with known links to al-Qaeda.''

Can they vote on the Patriot Act again if Frist makes the time ? If so they should altho' I'd be happier if it still had a sunset provision no later than, say, six months into the next administration (need to allow a little changeover time).
Both.
He looks like he's prepared to stand there all day, doesn't he?
Poor W. He has to talk to these reporters (and Democraps) like he's talking to 3rd graders....
I'll tell you, I'm listening (no tv), and he IS IN CONTROL OF THIS.
The media sound like fools.
Ok then if these WMDs are in say, Syria or Iran why have we not invaded those countries to take care of that threat? Surely some nutter in one of thos countries could use those weapons against us or Israel...
John Roberts is the "sloppy seconds" reporter. I will never forget that.
Yeah.... and he knows that poll numbers are cyclical. And he wants that cycle to match up well with elections.
I am, too.
They are confrontational -- so Bush needs to be, too!
Question: The intel failures, one of the side effects is that we've lost credibility with our allies when we go to them with new intel. Your admin. has gone to our allies with info found on a laptop found in Iran re their nuclear program. Is one of the side effects of the intel failure limited your ability to go forward with future threats.
Pres: I hate to admit it, but it's a good quesiton. No question, the intel about WMD caused all intel services to step back and look at how they gather intel. Where it will be most difficult to make the case going forward is in the public arena.
If we're trying to make the case in Iran, people will say the intel failed in Iraq, how can we trust it in Iran. The first step is a diplomatic effort to get the Iranians to comply. If they don't, there's always the UN.
It means that Congress can butt their noses in and tell the President and the Military how to run a war
Congress didn't want to give up their control and that is why they didn't declare an "official" war
