Actor Morgan Freeman has a solution to the problem of racism "Stop talking about it!"
In a CBS News' 60 Minutes profile of the Oscar-winning actor scheduled to air tonight, Freeman tells Mike Wallace labels like "white" and "black" are an obstacle to defeating racism.
"I am going to stop calling you a white man and I'm going to ask you to stop calling me a black man," he says. "I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You wouldn't say, 'Well, I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.' You know what I'm saying?"
The actor also criticizes Black History Month, saying setting aside a special month actually segregates black history from American history. Calling the idea "ridiculous," Freeman notes there's no "white history month."
"You're going to relegate my history to a month?" Freeman asks Wallace. "I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history," he says.
Freeman, who won his first Oscar for his role in "Million Dollar Baby" last year, has starred in numerous films, including "The Shawshank Redemption," "Unforgiven," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "The Bonfire of the Vanities," "Glory" and "Driving Miss Daisy."
This just further proves that the balance is tipping against Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et al, as African Americans such as Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman begin to speak some common sense.
Wait - someone who is actually thinking in Hollywood? Okay, I am beginning to like the way this guy thinks.
This is great, an actor that I like speaking the truth about something important and making complete sense.
Where is the Cuban history month? The Mexican history month? The French history month, never mind that is only full of surrenders.
How long until Hollywood and the Left try to punish him?
Jesse "knock 'em up" Jackson can go back to his old job of impregnating the women of his staff and Calypso Louie Farrakan can return to what he does best which is crapping on old whitey in the name of his murdering god "whatzis name".
My wife and I went out for dinner last night, at a nice chain restaurant, in Burlington, IA. Our waitress was as black as Michael Jordan, and spoke with such polish. I was expecting at least some 'accent'(searching for the right word), but was greeted and spoken to with English professor precision. I almost didn't want to speak. You see, I'm stuck with my country boy dialect, and felt reluctant to reveal my 'hick' speech pattern.
I really enjoy moments like that, when stereotypes get clobbered.
Maybe we should have "American History Month." You know, a month where kids in public schools actually have to learn American history. What a concept.
Like Bill Cosby, Freeman can't really be punished. He's made his money and he doesn't need Hollywood or the left. About all they can do to him is trot out Danny Glover or prop up Harry Belafonte and have them call him a house n-gg-r.
Okers.
Any guess on how long before they get really ticked and start the games?
I say, later today at the soonest.
Monday morning soundbite at the latest.
There's a month for everyone, unless you're a straight white male without a handicap. That much diversity isn't valued!
Women
Hispanics
African-Americans
Asian and Pacific Islanders
Native Americans
Handicapped
Homosexuals & ???-gendereds
Have I left anyone out!
I have always liked Morgan Freeman's performances....
I don't think it would be very wise for Glover or Belafonte to come out trashing Cosby and Freeman for their rich, white friends at the DNC. ALL Americans think very highly of "the Cos" and Morgan Freeman and would not tolerate that kind of Barbra Streisand from Danny and Harry.
I also liked him as the principal in "Lean On Me."
I always wondered if Mr. Freeman was another Hollywood liberal or not. If there where more actors with some brains and common sense, I could enjoy going to see some movies again.
"Lean on Me" was the movie where he uttered the phrase "You can call me Batman.
He was perfect as the narrator in "March of the Penguins."
Well, It's only because he's rich and..and...he's rich...and..he's got his...and...he's rich...and...
And he's just an "Uncle Tom" and not really a "real" black man.
Took ya long enough to see reality bro but nice to see you finally came around.
Beware though 'they' will come gunnin' for ye
The poverty pimps and plantation overlords will simply decry "FREEMAN" as an U.T.
Freeman is Free at last...
imo
