How do we so frequently get off point on these threads. The point raised in the article about people perhaps not voting for Gov. Romney because of his Mormon beliefs had to do with how Evangelical Christians would view him. If you do not consider yourself an Evangelical Christian, then your opinion of Mr. Romney's Mormonism though interesting, is not germane to the point raised in the article. I have attempted to keep to that point by defining why many Evangelical Christians consider Mormonism a cult. You don't have to agree with that definition, but it is important in considering the point raised in the article. 185 posted on 12/17/2005 4:11:24 PM EST by Binghamton_native

Apparently, it is the Evangelical Christian point of view that was asked for and you have responded. It is an irony that liberals are less judgmental of the Mormon faith and would more likely vote for Mitt Romney rather than the Evangelicals who vote conservative as do the majority Mormons.

EverOnward (and I love the name),

It isn't that I disagree that he may be a conservative. He
may. And no doubt we share some common political beliefs.

I simply can't pull the lever for someone who believes the absolute oposite of what I have pledged my life to - of WHOM I have pledged my life to.

I wouldn't object to floating down the Arkansas river on a float trip with Mitt - he's probably a fun guy. And I would enjoy the afternoon. In that regard, I have no ill will for him.

When it comes to helping exalt a mormon to the highest office in the land - in the world. That's another thing. It isn't going to happen. Millions feel the same.

best,
ampu
