Fury over radio host's racism AAP 17dec05
A TALKBACK radio host has been forced to apologise for on-air claims that some Lebanese Australians were "inbred".
Macquarie Radio station 2GB's late-night announcer in Sydney, Brian Wilshire, told his audience that many Lebanese "have parents who are first cousins whose parents were first cousins. The result of this is inbreeding – the result of which is uneducationable (sic) people . . . and very low IQ".
Wilshire's comments were greeted by outrage in Sydney.
"It reveals an uneducated comment on his part – they are disgraceful comments," NSW Premier Morris Iemma said. Wilshire, whose 2GB colleague Alan Jones was also accused of fuelling racial tensions, yesterday apologised for his remarks.
"I understand that those comments may have caused offence to some members of the Lebanese community and I unreservedly retract those comments and I apologise for any offence that might have been caused," he said.
Wilshire, whose station biography declares him to be a fifth-generation Australian descended from the brother of Sydney's second mayor James Wilshire, has been with 2GB for 25 years.
His apology came as a number of Lebanese community leaders yesterday blamed talkback radio for stoking racial tensions.
"There's been a number of presenters from the same radio station who seem to have fuelled racism,"
"They are fuelling racial division," Lebanese spokesman Keysar Trad said.
His comments were echoed as Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders met in solidarity today outside a Sydney Uniting Church, where a hall was burned to the ground on Wednesday night About 300 people, including a large group of Muslims from the nearby Omar Mosque in Auburn, as well as representatives of the Christian and Jewish communities, were at the meeting.
Spokesman for Lebanese human rights organisation Cedarwatch, Stephen Stanton, cited 2GB when he blamed talkback radio for helping to incite the violence of the past week.
"Deep in your hearts there are two matters that are hurting you today," Mr Stanton told the crowd.
One example was 2GB.
"The airwaves are useless if they are used by people such as that," he said, to applause from the crowd.
Australian Islamic Cultural Centre president Sheikh Shafiq Khan also criticised the role of the media.
"The media are the arm of the community," Sheik Khan said.
"The government, the media, the community and police, they are working together like a car.
"If one (of these) is not good, the car cannot work."
Sounds like someone is NOT ready for western civilization.
It is factual that middle eastern countries are very inbred because of the first-cousin marriages. Infact, all muslim countries are inbred. See figure 1 from http://www.consang.net/summary.html

I don't know about the Lebanese...but within the last year I saw
a Palestinian Authority webpage with a chart showing that "cousin
marriage" is pretty much the norm (at about 60% of marriage) in

Gramps and Gramommie were 1sts, since back in the 40's in Iran, it was considered OK.
They are religiously Jewish, but ethnically Middle-Eastern. I would not be surprised to hear the practice is extremely common.

Interesting. I've only known a few Pakistanis, and none very well. One first-cousin marriage isn't usually a problem, but generation after generation is a genetic disaster.

The left in Australia has gone overboard with political correctness. At the federal level, the lefties are talking about more laws to prevent people inciting racism. Naturally it will be directed against Australians of Anglo appearance. What they haven't learnt is that if you push people far enough they will rebel. The lefties congregate in the ALP which was once the party of the working classes. One former ALP parliamentarian once said that the ALP had become "the spitoon of the middle classes".
The following post to an Australian newspaper reflects the frustration that many Austraqlians are no doubt feeling:

I feel a huge embarrassment in regard to this woman that she still is referred to as an Australian by the press. She is a woman who has a certain verbal facility combined with what the Victorians used to call a 'lack of a moral sense'. She has never been able to act her age or grow old gracefully. If an opportunity presents itself for her to get some media attention, like Malcolm, she is right into it.
She has not lived in Australia for years and so has no idea what is motivating the behaviour we have seen in recent times.

There is nothing anymore like they appreciate what Australians have made of their country and could they please join in and complement the structures and society that is here. No! It seems to be a case of 'us' and 'them'. Australians are the 'them' who have to give to 'us'.
Young Australians know very well that with all the tax they pay in so many different ways from the horrendous HECS to the extremely high rents to access accommodation anywhere near where they might be lucky to get work that they are supporting to the hilt those who have made no effort to contribute anything to our society in a constructive fashion. We are long tired of giving a living to foreigners who seem to think that we owe such a living to them.
The last remaining vestige of what it is to be an Australian is the ability to enjoy a beach which is open to all.
Even that, along with everything else, they have to surrender gratis to a bunch of hooligans who do nothing, give nothing and are offensive in how they take over the space.
For years Australians have put up with it. Loads of foreign youth who come to put their bodies in the space of others who are trying to socialize in their own way and then they take up all the space with no regard to young kids or anyone at all. They play ball with maximum effort to annoy and upset others who may be suntanning peacefully or having a drink.
Then when a youthful lifesaver asks them to behave they beat the hell out of him.
So who is criminal and who is racist? That is the other thing. When is a person other than an Australian been taken to task for obscene and racist behaviour towards Australian-born persons of Anglo descent? For too long Aussies have been walked over by the foreigner who has taken over his place in educational institutions (a refugee can get a place with no HECS it seems) and can access housing which poor Australians have great difficulty in getting.
Even when Anglo-Australians are at school they have to genuflect to the foreigner and have to apologise for being in the country at all through the crap they are taught in history and social studies. We should pay for the privilege of being here and give to the foreigner everything is the message plain and clear. I am sick and tired of people telling us how well off we are. We have nothing but debt and are incurring even more debt in order to give foreigners a life.
So we have. Australians have even given their lives generously saving others from oppression as well as themselves. In recent times, our future has been well and truly sewn up giving Tsunami victims massive Aid out of proportion to our actual numbers within the country. Then to other causes as well as fight for the freedom of Timorese and Iraqis. Let alone supporting umpteen persons in the Pacific of all persuasions.
Australian youth know that their birthright has been sold off by Labor and Liberal Parties where in each case there have been persons who have desired to be World Statesmen. They have had no compunction in sacrificing the welfare of us all in order that certain persons at the top of Government are seen to be important by the World Community. Significantly absent from this business are the Canadians and the New Zealanders. Why Australians with their small number have to be the social service of the world is beyond me. Individuals living in the country on their tiny patch of land or in their tiny flat do not own the resources of the country at all. They simply pay the deal to protect those resources for some foreign ownership.
The elderly want their retirement and are told they cannot have it although they have paid their taxes for the greater part of their lives. Well qualified Australians have to step aside to make room for others who have access to universities which they now cannot afford to attend themselves. No-one wants to train Aussies in skills even and instead prefers to import the stranger from overseas.
All governments beware! Pauline Hanson had a few voters prepared to vote for her view of the world. I suggest those are the tip of the iceberg. There are those who are sponaneously coming to an understanding that their birthright has been sold off to those who have not earned their way to be in Australia through being a convict from earlier time who was paid nothing to the cheap labor for the rest of the time. We are merely slaves to some other kind of agenda it seems. Funny how our politicians want to address poverty of everyone else except Australian poverty.
Aussies want someone at the helm who will look after Aussies and Aussie interests. If people cannot acclimatise and tolerate us here in this country, they should return to where they came from originally. That goes for second generation persons who are born here.
It is high time the ones in power demand that minorities realise they are in a country of the Judeo-Christian tradition and that the main things they have taken advantage of are because of that tradition.
Germaine Greer took advantage of that tradition also. Good for her. Is there anyone here she has not despised and looked down upon although she had her first advantages here?
She is an irrelevancy to us all.
I just hope and pray that perhaps one day someone in an elected position will realise that the most disadvantaged person in the country called Australia is not an Aborigine, not a foreigner from wherever but an Anglo-Australian who has had no benefit whatsoever of paying taxes for several generations and ceding often his best jobs and opportunities to someone who just marches in from outside.
