That's a crock. My daughter was born into a smoking home. My hubby and I both smoked. I smoked before AND after she was born. And I even nursed her. (And NO! I didn't blow smoke in her face. I KNOW you are going to ask that NEXT!) She grew up to be a beautiful young woman and now is married and has a babe of her own. She never had health problems. She and her hubby BOTH smoke! No one is sick. No one has asthma. You have been blatantly mislead my friend.

I knew a guy that played "Russian Roulette" once. Nothing happened. Therefore, I conclude that "Russian Roulette" is not dangerous.

Absurd? Well, that's what happens when you try to prove something using an anecdote. We can have a legitimate argument about the evidence concerning the risks of second-hand smoke. Anecdote doesn't cut it. In my business, I see smokers every day. Ninety percent of them understand that the risk to their health, and accept it. Fine. Ten percent, though, think the whole thing is a "scam". They have smoked for twenty years, and nothing bad has happened yet. Or they had a grandfather that smoked until he died at the age of 102. The concept of "relative risk" just doesn't equate with them. I expect better from the normally intelligent FReeper community. No, second hand smoking is not the same as smoking. But don't make yourself look foolish by claiming your anecdote trumps science.

Well, then, since we actually have an open mind, most of us, please do tell us what "scientific" study supports your opinions. Be creative. No one has yet been able to find a non-discredited study that links second hand smoke to anything.

Linking SHS to mental disease in opponents doesn't count!

You have been easily swayed.  I have research second hand smoke aLOT!  Foolish?  I only "look foolish" in the eyes of those that know no better.

SECOND HAND SMOKE FRAUDS

There was a study done in Great Britain on ETS (environmental tobacco smoke). This study was done very slowly, methodically, and slowly. It took FORTY YEARS to finish. It finally finished last year, and was published in the reknowned British medical Journal. It concluded there was no great risk being exposed to ETS, and the Dr. that had headed the study even bemoaned the fact that he hated smoking-and wished it were otherwise-BUT-he reported the facts as the study showed, and their findings were true. Proving the outcry over the last 15 years to be false & misleading. What's that you say?? You never heard of this study?? Why...that's because the media in this country (and most others, I would imagine) REFUSED TO REPORT IT!! Yet the media will forever parrot the anti-smoker Taliban's garbage & hate-filled propaganda as gospel, because they hate smokers, too.

Oak Ridge Labs, TN & SECOND HAND SMOKE

Statistics and Data Sciences Group Projects

I think any anti who tries to dismiss the findings of the U.S. Department of Energy labs at Oak Ridge, should be confronted with the question: "Are you saying that DOE researchers committed scientific fraud and that their findings on ETS exposure are untrue?"

" But don't make yourself look foolish by claiming your anecdote trumps science."

Post the actual science. Good luck.
