Only those in denial are surprised by these findings.

He spent how much money and how much time coming to this conclusion??? Hell, one night of watching the cable shows can tell you this. Geeze.

Great find and post. Although to FReepers, this study's results are about as surprising as sunrise. Indeed, this study will never ever see the light of day in mainstream media, confirming at least partly, the study's premises.

I'm glad they made that point about the WSJ - the main "news" articles (largely "human interest" stories) are full of left-fellating schlock.
Today's edition had a long article on how traumatic the current DoD deployment policy is for military families.
Any articles on the incredible successes that our military is achieving in today's edition?
Nope.
Any front page articles on the election in Iraq?
Nope.

The most centrist outlet proved to be the "NewsHour With Jim Lehrer."This statement completely invalidates the study.
To: LdSentinal
Seems to me a big problem is this study simply tallies when a liberal group or politician is mentioned, eg NAACP or Heritage.
It's unclear how or if they score slanted coverage: which topics are selected for coverage, what sides have been ommitted, the language used in presenting stories, etc.

Fascinating way to do the study. Hard to argue with their methodology.

There is NO bias.
They are political organizations, with political operatives.
They are campaigning against us 24/7.

I agree...the methods of the study seem quite sound (though studies of this type are prone to some bias)...the authors did as much as would seem possible to diminish bias and subjectivity.

It does not. The premise of the study is that there is no rightwing news outlet. It ranges from centrist Fox and Washington Times to way left CBS,NYT,and WSJ.

"I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican," said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study's lead author. "But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are."
