The work suggests that the skin-whitening mutation occurred by chance in a single individual after the first human exodus from Africa, when all people were brown-skinned.

For some reason I don't believe this sentence for a second...

I agree, there is absolutely no scientific proof, just the usual conjecture, assumption, and what if.

well, all people would have been brown-skinned. We can say for certain that people didn't originate in cold areas, rather in Sunny ones
