He hasn't been heard from in more than a year, but one news site reports that it has obtained a new tape of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

But U.S. officials are skeptical of the report, CBS News reports.

The story from Pajhwok Afghan News, dated Tuesday, describes a new 30-minute tape with a message from Taliban commander Mullah Dodallah and the al Qaeda leader, according to the IntelCenter, a U.S. government contractor that does work for intelligence agencies.

Army guns down two top HM men

Majid Jahangir

Gulabdaji (Beerwa), December 14: When this tiny hamlet hidden deep inside the Brarinar hills of central Kashmir woke up to the rattle of gunfire early this morning, its calm was broken for the first time in three years.
At noon, when the firing stopped and troops picked up the bodies of six militants, the scared villagers peeped through their window panes to find two top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen from neighbouring villages also among the dead.

Army’s spokesman in Srinagar Col Hemant Jeneja said one of the killed militants is a district commander and another one is a battalion commander of the HM. “After a specific tip-off, we cordoned off Gulbadaji last night and killed the six militants, including these two top commander,” Jeneja told The Indian Express.

In fact, an Army officer of 34 RR associated with the operation termed the killing of the six militants as a great success. “District commander Showket Ahmed Ganie and battalion commander Mohammad Sultan Bhat were active for the past many years. Ganie was an expert in making explosives devises and was also involved in the killing of various political workers and security personnel in Budgam district. The killing of the duo will give a huge jolt to HM,” he said, adding, “The identity of the other four is being established.”

The village was cordoned by the troops of 34 RR late last night and as the troops were encircling the hamlet at around 3 a.m., militants opened fire on the troops, which was returned. In the brief encounter, two militants were killed. The other four militants, including Ganie, took refuge on the first floor of a cowshed. The troops continued the cordon and the searches resumed early on Wednesday morning. “As the search of these particular houses started, the hidden militants in the cowshed opened fire and it was returned by the troops. In the encounter that lasted for an hour, all the four militants were killed,” said an Army officer of 34 RR. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.

The cowshed and an adjacent house owned by shawl-maker Mohammad Akber were also damaged in the gunbattle.

“The militants were not hiding in our houses, but they rushed toward the village from the nearby forest after seeing the Army approaching last night. The militants were killed outside our houses,” an elderly woman was telling a group of men and women who were trying to console the family members whose house was damaged in the encounter.

“My brother Abdul Majeed Mir was picked up by the Army and it is his fault that the encounter took place outside our house,” said Mir’s physically handicapped sister, Naseema.

I think that sometimes oil and gas wells explode all by themselves.

Steel striking the side of the well casing can cause a spark.

But today, it fits the terrorist game plan.

Groups criticize FBI's questioning of teen for scribbling 'PLO'

SACRAMENTO

Civil rights groups said a teenager's free speech rights were violated when a suburban school district let the FBI question him for scribbling the initials "PLO" on a school binder two years ago.

The family of the boy, now 16, and the civil rights groups said Elk Grove School District officials violated their own policy by allowing the questioning Sept. 27 without informing his parents.

The Calvine High School student, who is not being named because of his age and because he doesn't face any charges, was questioned by the FBI about the Palestine Liberation Organization. He was also asked if he had ever traveled to Palestine, and if he knew about the FBI's investigation of alleged terrorist activity among the Muslim community in Lodi, about 35 miles south of Sacramento, the civil rights groups said.

The FBI said it was told the boy had pictures of suicide bombers on his cell phone, but the rights groups said the phone only had a picture of a mosque as its background display. The boy, a fourth generation American of Arab descent, also said he was asked how long he had been in the United States.

The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations protested the incident Thursday to the district's school board. A spokeswoman for the groups said the letter of complaint was delayed because they had to confirm the district's policy was violated.

The FBI questioning "is particularly intimidating for a 16-year-old, especially when it occurs on school grounds," the groups said in the complaint. "As a result of this experience, (the boy) is now much more hesitant about expressing his political views in any context."

Two years ago, he was scolded by his math teacher, who told him he was supporting a terrorist organization by scribbling PLO on his notebook. The youth defended the group as a legitimate organization that opposed Israeli occupation. He refused to complete any more assignments for the class after he was denied a transfer to a different teacher.

FBI spokeswoman Karen Ernst said the 20-minute questioning came two years later because agents learned about the incident after the arrests last June of a Lodi father and son on terrorism-related charges.(snip)

Two men facing terrorism charges threatened to kill prime minister, court told

MELBOURNE, Australia

Two men accused of being members of a terrorist organization in Australia threatened to kill Prime Minister John Howard, court officials said Friday as the men were denied bail.

Abdulla Merhi, 20, and Hany Taha, 31, were among 10 men charged in the city last month with being members of a terrorist organization. They had applied for bail in Melbourne Magistrates Court.

During the hearing, Crown prosecutor Nick Robinson told the court police intercepted a conversation when Merhi said: "For example if John Howard kills innocent Muslim families do we ... have to kill him and his family?" court was told.(snip)

He was interviewed on local news. He is "proud" to be a palestinian. The news story did not mention anything about pictures of suicide bombers. Note how "Civil Rights Groups" (CAIR) cover for him. My advice to the FBI is to locate his mosque and deport the iman.

These scumbags that defend and protect this kid who has no business having those type of pictures on his cell phone are just as bad as the terrorists themselves. These young jihad converts need to be stopped sooner rather than later. Sounds like the OU bomber to me, all he needs to do is take the next step. Hopefully the FBI scared the cr@p out of him.

Coast Guard aids to navigation vandalized
Seawaves ^ | 12/16/05

Posted on 12/16/2005 7:13:52 AM PST by pabianice

Juneau AK December 15, 2005 - A crew from Coast Guard Aids to
Navigation Team (ANT) Sitka discovered nine vandalized aids between
Olga Strait and Whitestone Narrows Monday.

The crew received a report from a boater who stated he almost hit
one of the navigational aids due its extinguished light. The ANT crew
located the buoy, damaged with bullet holes. After surveying the
surrounding area, the crew found two additional buoys and six shore
aids with bullet holes.

The ANT crew worked from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday repairing
and replacing solar panels, batteries, lanterns and radar reflectors on
a number of the vandalized aids. Also, a crew from the Coast Guard
cutter Maple, home ported in Sitka, placed a temporary patch over a
bullet hole in the hull of one buoy. The buoy will be replaced by the
crew of the Coast Guard cutter Anthony Petit, homeported in
Ketchikan.

The Coast Guard takes the responsibility of preventing maritime
accidents very seriously. The aids to navigation in the area where the
vandalism occurred are of critical navigational importance. The
waterway is used by recreational boaters, fishing vessels and
commercial traffic, such as the Alaska Marine Highway System ferries.

Mariners use shore aids and buoys as guides to help them navigate
their vessels while underway. When lights on fixed aids are
extinguished the structure itself can become a hazard to navigation.
On Feb. 14, 1998, a teenager was killed when the vessel he was in
struck an unlighted aid to navigation in Olga Strait. The aid involved in
the fatal accident was one of the aids vandalized.

Any person found responsible for stealing, damaging, defacing or
destroying aids to navigation could be charged with a misdemeanor
offense and face up to a $2,500 fine and a year in jail.

Coast Guard personnel determined the vandalism occurred some time
between Friday and Monday morning. If anyone has any information
regarding who might be responsible for the vandalism please contact
the Coast Guard at 907-463-2001.

The latest from Australia:

Beaches become no-go zones
December 16, 2005

PEOPLE are being urged to stay away from beaches in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and the Central Coast at the weekend after police received credible threats of gang violence and riots.

NSW Premier Morris Iemma said police had received intelligence from the public indicating gangs would target Cronulla, Sydney's eastern beaches, Wollongong, Newcastle, and some Central Coast beaches this weekend.
As a result of the latest threats, police numbers would be boosted further to 1500 on Saturday and 2000 on Sunday to try to prevent a repeat of last weekend's race riot at Cronulla, Mr Iemma said.

NSW Police Commissioner Ken Moroney had yesterday announced that an extra 1000 police would be on duty on Saturday and an extra 1500 on Sunday.

"The police do advise that there are credible threats of large numbers of people wishing to congregate at a range of beachside locations and do intend on riotous behaviour," Mr Iemma said.

"We are determined to ensure public order and safety."

About 5000 people converged on Sydney's North Cronulla beach last Sunday, sparking a race riot that led to further violence across Sydney's southern suburbs during the week.
The Premier urged locals and visitors to stay away from the targeted locations, where police would be conducting roadblocks and other anti-riot measures.

"Based on the credibility of those threats, travel to these areas should be avoided and residents living within the areas ... should not be at those locations," Mr Iemma said.

"Police will be using tough new powers that have been granted to them following the emergency sitting of parliament."

Mr Moroney apologised to the public for any inconvenience but asked them to co-operate with police and stay away from beaches in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.

"I do not seek to inconvenience the travelling public of NSW but clearly these are extraordinary measures for extraordinary times," Mr Moroney said.

"You will understand there will be a large police presence as we apply the new laws in terms of lockdowns ... and the stopping and searching of motor vehicles.

"I simply seek a level of cooperation from individuals and from families who are travelling to these locations that on this occasion they assist the police by not going."

He said roadblocks would be in place at various locations to be advised.

Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Goodwin, who will command the weekend's operation, said police would do all they could to keep the beaches and communities safe.

"We have intelligence that people are intending to attend those areas to conduct themselves in a riotous manner armed with various weapons – baseball bats, sticks, poles and the like – and it is my intention to keep those communities safe," Mr Goodwin said.

Granny, I'd like to know how many gang rapes have been committed by the RoPers in this country.

A typical Australian website poster:

47. #46
I think he meant pissed-off (which is the US pissed) as opposed to pissed(as a nit, which equals drunk). Pissed can mean either when you are talking ‘strine.

I think it’s lousey that the beaches are CLOSED (how the fark do you CLOSE a Sydney beach in Summer, at CHRISTMAS?!?)*

Morris Iemma is a dickhead. Who is he listening to? It’s not racial tension, it’s that Aussies (be they white, yellow, black or whatever) are sick to death of a certain minority getting away with blue-bloody-murder. Everything is being spun to point the finger at white Australians and accuse them of being racist. What a load of bullshit. Don’t the MSM readers and pollies have bullshit meters?

Idiots.

The typical Aussie apparently does not intend to bend overand take it from the mooooslems.
