They don't seem to want to help with the recovery.

Kind of a "not in my back-yard" type of mentality. I'm not defending these folks but would you want a trailer park full of evacuees living on your street? I would not.

These clowns are going out of their way to cut their own throats. There are two things going on in this sorry business. Number 1 is the city council wants to cut the mayor down to size. Since the storm and flood Nagin has not made it a point only to meet with white politicians and corporate types if the pretty much entire city council is there also. Not doing this and not getting their approval for even the smallest initiative enrages them because (a) 'they are being dissed' and (b) they are being cut out of the opportunity to stake out their claim for a bribe or kickback from 'de man' who 'de mayor be meetin' with without our approval. (This is no exaggeration, you have to watch the combination of ignorance, stupidity and cupidity displayed by much of the city council to believe it. Number 2 FEMA is being allowed to set up trailer parks without having to go to the appropriate city council member to be shaken down and told which contractors they can use. These sharks expect a bribe or kickback for everything that happens within their piece of the turf.

What they are to stupid to understand is that their actions now are being watched nationwide and each time this sort of thing happens NOLA's changes for federal assistance gets pushed further down on the congressional to do list.

Have you actually seen any of those trailer parks???? They cram as many travel trailers as they can in a very small space. Let's just say that if they can plan a little bit before throwing folks haphazardly in areas things will go better in the long run.

Now my cousin owns an RV park and some of his buildings were severely damaged from Rita so he just plowed them down and stuck more FEMA trailers there. He's real happy at the moment because he is making a killing after a very slow summer. Most of his tenants are decent hard working people though not the folks NOLA has to deal with.
