Kind of a "not in my back-yard" type of mentality. I'm not defending these folks but would you want a trailer park full of evacuees living on your street? I would not.
If they were my neighbors, sure. All NO people.
They got a point. NEw Orleans East easily... easily has a dozen abandoned apartment properties where trailers could be set up with minimal demolition. And no one would complain that it's draging the neighborhood down.
Hell, There's a condo complex on Bundy Rd where they had people squatting in the apartments. There was simply too many for the police to effectively keep the area clear.
