December 15, 2005 -- IF Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton really wants to run for president, it looks as if she needs a new strategy, because her tortured triangulation is now backfiring so badly that even draft-Hillary fans are mad at her.
In fact, draft-Hillary chief Bob Kunst who broadcast the first pro-Hillary TV ads of the 2008 cycle is so upset that he's mulling new ads to accuse triangulation champ Bill Clinton of betraying his wife politically.
Bill Clinton invented triangulation trying to grab the center and paint foes on both sides as extremists. It was great for him in the 1990s, when...

Hitlery is in big trouble...I've never thought she could win anyway. She's got major obstacles, mainly that her party is full of anti-war freaks and they are not going to capitulate to her "centrism"...LOL.
She'll run as an independent. Inviting leftist hecklers to her speech is just the start.
O happy day!
Hillary wants the ball, and the center will not hold for her ............. the guards and the tackles won't either.
Thanks for posting the full article. I didn't want to have to subscribe to the NYP to read it.
Not only that, after the general public has been subjected to a series of mind-numbing campaign speeches by this phony screech owl, it will be game over.
Wonderful!
No problem...I figured some would have trouble accessing it. I haven't seen this one on Drudge yet, he usually has all the anti-hitlery stuff. Maybe soon?
Hillary ain't no independent. If anything, she will have the full backing of the Socialist Party or the Communist Party. But, NO independent.
It's all a Karl Rove plot.
"We'll handle this by going after all the moderate voters, the people in the middle."
Bush 41's "read my lips" lie and Ross Perot's "let me ghet under that hood" campaign had a lot more to do with Clinton's election in 1992 than his vaunted "triangulation", which didn't even secure him 50% of the electorate. Same for Dole's non-campaign in '96.
Hard to believe that we are even talking about this low-achieving, cunning woman's strategy in terms of how she will finally determine what it is that people want to hear, and then saying it.
Yeah, we've got a real leader on the horizon (sarcasm).
I didn't say she is. I believe she may run as one.
To do this, she is allowing her party to go berzerk - letting protestors in at her own rallies, for example. The worse the Democrat party behaves, the better she will look to voters when she leaves them.
True..but I don't see hitlery finding a 3rd party candidate to run in the same way Perot did. It makes no sense...she would need all the votes she could get, can't be risking the loss of any centrists/swing voters to some newbie indie candidate. She herself won't change to the IND party either. She can't win, no matter what she does. I also think Warner will be more likely to win the nomination...she is too negative and too angry for anyone to seriously worry about her in 08.
The clintoons are out of power and out of their minds.
The more Bill would talk in an interview, the more mushy middle people would like him, because you'd end up thinking he was a charming scoundrel like your cousin Ned who would probably send some of the money he steals your way.
You could tell he didn't really believe in anything in particular except being president so he could get free cheeseburgers and pick up chicks.
Hillary is different. The more she talks, the more she irritates everybody, except the hard Left, because she comes across as the humorless dogmatic socialist she really is.
Bill's tactics won't work for Hillary, not because the times have changed, but because of her personality.
I have never been able to understand why Dole ran. Certainly there were better candidates. Heck, I would have voted for Newt.
Then, Hillary ain't gonna RUN as no independent. Splits up the liberal vote too much.
He betrayed her other ways too.
