Last-Minute Gift Idea Thread
Posted on 12/15/2005 8:40:25 AM PST by freespirited
If anyone else is interested and it is ok with the powers that be, I thought this might be a good idea and fun too. Please contribute original ideas about gifts of all kinds--serious, original, whimsical, and of course, those that advance the ideals of FR.

I like going into those mom and pop antique/junk stores to find something unique.

The best gift I've ever received is the Zen Alarm Clock..

Don't worry, it isn't some Eastern religion device.. it is an alarm clock that chimes a soft bell instead of having a loud buzzer that gives you a heart attack in the morning.

A wonderful gift is a yearlong, monthly gift of fruit from Harry and David. It's pricey but can be purchased in increments if desired.
Parents, for example, who have most everything they want in their older years, especially appreciate that type of gift.
Or the gift of a service - window cleaning, car cleaning, etc. Either do it yourself for your family or purchase the service.

Hooch.
It's what my family gets one another.
It's also what enable us to tolerate one another for the duration of the day's festivities.

Box of candy, it's everywhere and at the checkout wherever you go. Everyone wants to get and serve candy on the holidays!

Yep, they're nice, but they're anything but durable. Mine made it approximately eight months.

Some kind of cream liqueur for my sister, Scotch for my brother-in-law, vodka for my brother, bourbon for my dad, peppermint cream for my mother . . . if only my husband's family were so easy to buy for!
But this year I'm smart. I'm making him shop for his side. After all, he knows 'em best. ;)
