UPDATE 3: Well, everyone is in shock, and president Roh is reportedly saying “lets wait and see” what happens with a formal explanation by Hwang scheduled for tomorrow/Friday. The evening news is a very revealing display of what certain political parties and news media are made of. MBC is reporting the story as pretty much established fact. The Democratic Labor Party, which was attacked by the Chosun (’민노당 도대체 왜?’) for not jumping on the bandwagon and attacking MBC, is calling for officials in Cheong Wa Dae and other parts of government who have any responsibility to bear to be held responsible. The ruling Uri and main opposition Grand National parties, the Chosun, and media like YTN, which at one point went so far as to hide the hints it knew about the truth as it attacked MBC as well, are all being as hesitant as possible about saying anything conclusive. You get the impression they’re hoping that by sunrise this will all have been just one very bad dream.
