Interesting to see if the diocese is willing to give up the property.

Bishop Robinson's chickens coming home to roost. Just a few weeks ago he was talking about the large numbers of Catholics who ar coming over to his church. No mention about the larger number of his church who are fleeing.

Big lawsuits coming. The Episcopal Church of the USA owns that real estate. I am not a lawyer but I suspect the parishioners do not even have legal standing in a lawsuit by the owner demanding the removal of squatters. Need a good legal team to keep the fight from getting mean.

The article fails to mention the word gay or homosexuality.

They don't necessarily own it. Look at the situation in Ca.

Resolving the property ownership issue will certainly be key. The recent CA case may be helpful to these congregations, but not so much if it depends upon any unique aspects of CA law. I'm hopeful that legal help could come from a group like the Alliance Defense Fund, the Becket Fund, or the American Center for Law & Justice.

It's sad to see any church schism, but God is at work on His threshing floor separating wheat from chaff(sp?) and pain is inevitable.

I like your posts. In our parish we got a rather conservative pastor a couple of years ago. The number of parishoners immediatly began to decline, until about 9 months ago. Now we're growing. We're now a larger parish than we were two years ago.

Living in Utah, it is hard not to miss the message of the LDS church. They are conservative, demand a lot from their flock, and are growing like crazy.

Thank you.

Truly hope your parish grows more in numbers(I'm surmising you are Episcopalian). I'm born and raised Catholic, but reading of the liberal infection to the Episcopal church on FR, I am very sympathetic to the plight of modern traditional and conservative Episcopalians.

The property titles are quite muddled in the ECUSA whether the parish or the diocese owns the property. The national church does not own any of the parish properties.

The problem the ECUSA will have in claiming in Florida that the diocese is the clear owner of the property is that it sets precedent for property ownership when the handful of conservative diocesese secede.

Likewise, here in North Texas, those parishes with conservative priests are also growing.

I'm Catholic. For 6 years now. Before that I was not much of anything. I'm even a state office holder for the Knights of Columbus. Never would have imagined THAT 7 years ago. I feel for the Episcopalians though, feel sad for them becuase what a few have done to their church. They will have to rise up and take their church back.

Thank God you're on the case, looking for dupes.

Given all those who ping me to reposted articles I'd previously dug up, posted and pinged, I guess I'm wondering whether:

1) I should just wait for others to post first (would save me much time), or
2) I can just give up pinging the list (would save me time).

But then again, despite a certain recent "warning" from the Mods, there seems to be no concern about dupes given the number I see these days on FR. So you've got the complete right of it. Post away. If I don't ping the list -- there may be a reason.
