I've beem treated by people like Nurse Wellstead.
They are troopers in the tradition of Florence Nightingale with the stamina to match.
The typical shift is 12 hour days for four days and three days off and you're still on 24 hr call for emergencies.
The young'uns aren't lining up to get those jobs.
I don't know what were're going to do when their gone.
And to you a very Merry Christmas, you and yours
Petronski you have a good heart like all Poles.
Are you for real !!! Disgraceful!
I agree.
Vancouver was recently named the world's most liveable city. The vote must have been rigged.
It's very liveable.
Like I said on earlier posts the worst, (Ghetto), area is only two blocks. Otherwise you can go anywhere anytime of the day or night and no agro.
No gun violence other than a couple of Indie gang wars in the 1990's that have settled down since the gang leaders are dead. The Dosanj's being the worst offenders and the last to take the dirt nap. Coke was the cause.
That gang activity was in Surrey. In Downtown Vancouver you can move around unmolested 24/7 and completely unarmed.
In Canada low life is creepy but not dangerous unless you're a user. You have to go out of your way here to get into trouble.
My goodness, you are argumentative, aren't you?
"Convict anyone of what?"
Anything. Doesn't matter. Just means that it doesn't meet legal evidentiary standards.
"Not leaving the counter of your $8.15 per hour job because you're boss may fire you"
There's no indication that the waitress would have had to shut down her till just to call the emergency number.
"In Canada pro bono lawyers are"
Are you sure you mean pro bono, and not contingent fee?
Pro bono means the lawyer contributes his time for the public good. He gets paid nothing. In contingent fee arrangements the lawyer bets his time that he can win a settlement to be paid out of.
"If you think American lawyers are crooked"
I really don't see what that has to do with people being too uncaring even to make a phone call.
Unfortunately every country has the drug users. In New South Wales a Labor Government allowed shooting rooms where addicts could go and shoot up. Apparently they have become havens for drug pushers. Pandering to drug pushers and drug users is not on in my book. I believe under the Howard Government the flow of drugs into Australia has reduced dramatically. I know Vancouver is a particularly attractive city. Cheers.

Dude, I'm responding to five (at least) people on this thread. Check all my posts. I'm on your side.
You make an interesting point.
A friend of mine is in Narc Anon. He set up a number of halfway houses for addicts.
Got governemnt funding and everything was going well until a number of dealers got wind of it and 'went onto the program'.
Subsequently they turned the halfway houses into crack houses.
Never underestimate an addict. Need wiil always provide a new opportunity.
The annoying part is they take money from honest tax payers to set up such places. I am all for drug addicts being weaned cold turkey.
1) Thank you for your service!
2) I am (until recently crippled) a Pharm Chemist that has worked on Nuc Pharm Med and Nuc Chem. I know EXACTLY what you speak of...It fell regularly to me to be the one to say "No" to the clueless "Dilbert-esque" Boss, because I was the ONLY one who had the guts and character to do it...everyone else was a "yes" man! Not exactly an encouraging characteristic when you are working with 100+ curies of P-32, Co 60, Sr 85, Na 22, ect...when I was working the waldoes, I had to keep one eye on the cell, and one on the untrustworthy weasels!
3) I guess I never subscribed to "group-think"...I've always been my own person and went my own way, and never cared what the rest thought!
4) I agree completely with your "I also look out for people to don't react normally because they are the type of people you could trust with your life." comment 100%! It's now instinctive to me to do that in every situation I find myself in.
"I'm responding to five (at least) people on this thread."
I'm responding to a few, too. Thought you were somebody else. Sorry.
Light a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he'll be warm the rest of his life.
...why do you say that?
Look at it this way. Why would anyone say it's good to let homeless people burn to death unless they meant to stir up trouble? Heck, even if he DID believe what he's saying, he probably has enough brains to realize it wouldn't be well recieved.
That's why I think Mr. F is behaving in a "trollish" manner. He's probably looking for people to get mad and indignant, because he thinks that would be funny.
Thanks for the tip. I know that liquor store. I bought some great ice wine there for my wife last year. Don't really see that stuff in the US, at least not at Canadian prices.
I'll be back in January for Okada Sushi's Sockeye Salmon sashimi. Yum!
