Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has expressed surprise and disappointment after hearing of racially charged criticism made by Philadelphia NAACP president J. Whyatt Mondesire in a Nov. 27 column in the Philadelphia Sun.
[snip]
"Especially being the same color I am," McNabb told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Obviously if it's someone else who is not African-American, it's racism. But when someone of the same race talks about you because you're selling out because you're not running the ball, it goes back to: What are we really talking about here?
[snip]
"I always thought the NAACP supported African-Americans and didn't talk bad about them. Now you learn a little bit more."

"I can not figure this out, McNabb has accomplished 10x what Michael Vick has and constantly deals with this BS. Vicks had a grand total of 2 300 yard games. Yet everyone refers to him as the greatest thing to ever hit the NFL. He continues to prove year in and year out hes just a HB/WR playing the QB position."
DING! DING! DING! EXACTLY!!!
I have been trying to say this to anyone who will listen. Vick is a marginal QB at best. To anoint this clown as the best thing to hit the NFL is a slap in the face to Johnny U, Joe Montana, Marino, Elway, Aikman, Stabauch, Bradshaw, hell I could keep going, and it ain't just QB's who are better players than the overrated Vick!
No one has ever said that Vick was "the best thing to hit the NFL". What has been said is that he is one of the most entertaining and exciting players to come along in a long time. The two statements are quite different.
Besides, why do you guys have to tear down Vick to build up McNabb. What does Michael Vick have to do with any of this? McNabb is a very good quarterback but at this point in his career highly overrated. He gets credit for taking the Eagles to the NFC championship 4 times and losing 3 of them, but McNabb apologists ignore the fact that the NFC weaker during that period than anytime since the merger and that the Eagle defense (before the arrival of TO) carried the Eagles.
Ouch. I miss that.
