Were coming, and were going to getcha, the usually mild-mannered Gov. Tom Vilsack of Iowa told the gathering Saturday.
Did Disney World make these Democrats a bit, well, goofy? Hardly. They have plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about next years elections. Bushs poll numbers remain at politically perilous levels, although they have begun to inch up. The public also is still dissatisfied with how the Bush administration has handled the Iraq war, the economy, and Hurricane Katrina.
In addition, ethics scandals have ensnared Republicans: A Texas prosecutor has indicted Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, on political money-laundering charges, forcing DeLay to step down from his leadership post in the House; Rep. Randy Duke Cunningham, R-Calif., recently pleaded guilty on bribery and tax-evasion charges; and an ethical cloud surrounding Republican uber-lobbyist Jack Abramoff is hovering over additional GOP lawmakers. Whats more, Democrats can point their gubernatorial victories last month in New Jersey and Virginia as a sign of things to come in 2006.
Rod Smith, a Democratic Florida state senator whos running for governor next year, put it this way when he addressed the conference: The Republicans have been doing their part to make sure we win.

Yeah, they were giddy in 2002 and 2004 too.
I am so glad they think they will win. That means they will continue to bash our military and our President and expect to win in '06.
Keep it up Dems. You are making it too easy.
We're going to getcher money. We're going to getcher freedoms. We're going to getcher property. We're going to getcha!
Notice that they dont think they can win on their own strengths but on the weakness of the Republican Party. They dont seem to know that a year is an eternity in politics. I eagerly await election night 2006 to see them weep.
As if the GOP had any kind of chance, please...These losers rally around the absolutely stupidest things...
Come get some Democrats.
They're going to be real "giddy" when they get their worthless butts stomped again.
They've got about as much chance of making it as a couple gay cowboys at the movies. I hope that movie bombs.
Good! That means they'll keep cruising down White Flag Blvd.
Note to Dems: Despising everything this country stands for is an excellent strategy. Keep pushing that message. Stay the course.
And they are supported by the Islamic terrorist and any other enemies of the American people.
Democrats are scum, they make me want to puke. But then we have not elected any Senators that will stand up to these worthless anti-American scum bags.
If they pick up a good number of seats in the House... impeachment will become their first, order of business.
Ok, Cheney will be a better smack down Pres then Bush.
More happy crap from the MSM. I wonder how they write this stuff with a straight face.
So I can take it that, when they met At DisneyWorld,
The conference was held in "Fantasyland"?
"This is the best election night in history," says Terry McAuliffe [2004]
"Bushs poll numbers remain at politically perilous levels"
They're going to run locally against "Bush" for the next 4 years, maybe more.
McAuliffe's 2002 strategy/obsession continues on.
