Great Britain: Tony, you've been shafted (England gets worst part of EU deal)

BRITAIN will get the WORST deal of all the EU states in a shocking giveaway by Tony Blair tomorrow.

Top secret documents seen by The Sun say Brits will get just half as much as the French and a mere quarter of that won by the Irish.

The UK is 27th out of 27 in the EU handouts league.

Extraordinarily, Mr Blair will also agree a 47 per cent rise in the amount we pay into Brussels — a staggering £35billion over six years.

All he gets in return is a vague promise to review the wasteful Common Agricultural Policy in 2008.

Last night Neil O’Brien of the Open Europe thinktank said: “This is an amazingly bad deal.

“We’ll be paying more than ever, getting less than any other country back, and we’ve failed to reform the wasteful EU budget.

“Tony Blair hasn’t just let down Britain, he’s let down our key friends in Europe.

“Under this new deal France will get more than any other country.

“But unbelievably Jacques Chirac has managed to make Tony Blair look like the bad guy. Blair’s been totally outmanoeuvred.”

Crunch ... Blair
Crunch ... Blair

Mr Blair flies to Brussels tomorrow for crunch talks to set out the EU budget until 2013 and to sign up to the cut-throat deal.

He has already agreed to surrender around £5billion of our annual rebate.

But figures seen by The Sun show the true extent of the great EU giveaway being cooked up.

Britain will get just £520 a head from Brussels. That compares to £1,000 for the French and Ireland’s £2,000.

Bizarrely, Europe’s richest country, Luxembourg, gets the BIGGEST payout — a staggering £15,000 per head as it boasts dozens of EU bureaucracies which command high payouts.

Mr Blair will trigger a furious backlash in Britain as details of the giveaway deal are published.
A new poll shows over half of us think we should pay less into the EU.
The ICM survey claims just a fifth of voters would be happy to pay more of their tax cash to Brussels.

  • TONY Blair will NOT be exercising his right to take a seat in the House of Lords when he finally steps down as PM. “It’s not my scene,” he said in an interview last night.

The Sun Online - Sun Says All talk Tony
All talk Tony

THE truth is out.

Tony Blair’s surrender this week will be forever known as the Great British Giveaway.

Thanks to him, we will come off worst of all 27 EU countries in this week’s budget shake-up.

Hard-working Britons will get just HALF of the amount pocketed by the French. The amount we pay into EU coffers will RISE by almost 50 per cent.

And in return for what, exactly?

The empty promise of a “review” of barmy farmers’ subsidies some time in 2008.

A fat lot of good that will do.

The tough-talking PM promised to come away from the table with a good deal for Britain.

What complete and utter tosh.

We know a sell-out when we see one.

How about this:

Invite Great Britain to leave the EU and join a new, exclusive economic and industrial partnership with us in the USA.  Also welcome in the partnership would be Poland and Eastern European nations who have been so supportive of the War on Terror.

Italy would be a 'maybe'....Prime Minister Berlusconi has said some very nice things about the USA and President Bush in times past, but we would need to stipulate that they 'get rid of the commies' in their country first.

Time to dump the EU. Come form an Atlantic Free Trade Zone with the US, Canada and Mexico.

And Gordon Brown is waiting in the wings....

Looking bad for old Tony.

But why do all politicians backbones turn to mush when confronted by the EU?

(Didn't happen to the great Lady of course, but she was special, very special.)

I just heard on BBC that the EU accused the US of dumping our crop surplus in the disguise of food aid!

The accusations were probably spoken with a heavy French accent.

I just heard on BBC that the EU accused the US of dumping our crop surplus in the disguise of food aid!

So if we don't give aid, we are 'evil and heartless, intentionally starving the less fortunate while wallowing in our own ill-gotten excess' but if we do give food aid, we are 'dumping' our surplus in order to manipulate prices.  Since we can't seem to do anything right by them no matter what we do, the only remaining choice is clear:  Blockade and then annex Belgium.

I like waffles now and then, with strawberries and maple syrup.

The accusations were probably spoken with a heavy French accent.

France is way too screwed up of a nation for us to want to annex.  Better to just ignore them and watch in glee as they implode, culturally and economically.

EU subsides to French farmers, mostly paid for with money forced from the UK who foots most of the EU bill, is an absolute gravy train for France.

Its also a major reason France seeks to keep Africa unstable and poor. Why they support Mugabe who seeks to destroy Zimbabwee's entire farm system. The cheap crops out of Africa would kill the french farmers who expect 10 dollars in subsides for growing a carrot.

Luxemborg? WTF?? They aren't exactly welfare cases. In 2003 there was only one country in the world with a GDP per capita higher than the United States, and it was no less than 50% higher - (drum roll) - yeh. Luxemborg. SOURCE.

Luxemborg? WTF??

Perhaps this is all Chirac's 'payback' to our dear British Friends for being so supportive and steadfast in the war on terror?

Our Coalition forces have shown the world what utterly worthless and corrupt slimeballs Chirac and the Euroweenies are.....they can't stand for that, so perhaps they shaft our dear British Friends as 'comeuppance'?

True.

But all that Blair has to do is to say no.

No one can force him to surrender British taxpayers' money. Nothing bad will happen to him or to Britain if he says no - except that he maybe won't be able to sit next to Chirac at the endless dinners at the EU meetings.

What a loss! /sarcasm

The very fact that this newspaper makes 'how much we get' from Brussels the top of the story shows that leftist thinking controls even the tories.

"I might pay $55,000 in taxes but I got back $3,000 so I am happy" is crazy.

Dump the EU for a free trade bloc, no EU government whatsoever.

The UK does a lot more trade with the EU than they do with us, but it would certainly be a better idea than the EU.

Time and time again, Blair has shown himself to be utterly spineless. This is hardly a suprise therefore.
