I know David Bellavia's father through a business relationship. He kept me and others up to date by email when David was in Iraq and when he was wounded. He is very proud of his son, as we all should be.

Neither Murtha...nor any other congressional representative has held a position in a skirmish line under fire in Iraq, yet they pontificate to the masses from "their war" experience.

Dang straight. They're like the retired military commentators on TV who provide clueless "insight" (and of all things, suggestions as to how a battle should be fought) based on experience in a completely different generation of warfare. I'm grateful for their service, but unless they're currently on active duty, they need the humble "insight" that their strategies are likely out-of-date. As for the cowards' strategy, running is still running.

A minor note that David Bellavia, as far as I know, resides in Waterport not Batavia. Regardless, he has spoken to high schools in that area about his experiences. He's very unassuming, and I'm glad he wrote his letter.
