One cannot rest on one's laurels.
Mr Murtha seems to think that what he did, while honorable 35 years ago, gives him a pass to discredit and put in further jeopardy those who today are in harms way.
As a combat Marine of the same conflict as Murtha, I find his current actions reprehensible and repulsive. While I thank Mr Murtha for his past service, I denounce his actions. He should know better...or is it that he has simply become an over the hill jarhead and current day insurgent of the Democrat party. I guess Murtha has forgotten "semper fi"...aka "always faithful".

Murtha is stuck in the 20th Century. He doesn't realize this is a different, more dangerous world than the one he remembers. I expect Pelosi to have him showing up on the floor of the House wearing a tie-dyed T-shirt and wearing flowers in his hair. He's a dinosaur trapped in the sixties.

Devolve, amazing graphics. Particularly liked the detail when Kerry pops up as the holder of the skull...true on so many levels...

employment opportunities for veterans, whose service to country, he said, should be at least as impressive as a college degree. Service to country in combat, in my eyes, is a hundred times as impressive as a college degree. I've known too many no-load, check-valve, moronic sacks of crap carrying around their sheepskins. Give me an American hero any day. You can count on them!

Ouch, that one has got to leave a mark. Wonder if AP or Reuters will pick it up. Pshaw.

For what it's worth. I think it shows how even the good guys can be turned. Heck, even former American hero John Glenn sold his soul for one more rocket ride.

Good thing is that the Army has a military/civilian credentialing system where you can turn your military education and experience into civilian credentials.

Neither Murtha, who wears his Bronze Star as his badge of authority, nor any other congressional representative has held a position in a skirmish line under fire in Iraq, yet they pontificate to the masses from "their war" experience. Funny how a man like Murtha, who made his career on detailing his heroism under fire, is the first to chip away at my generation's valor.
Each day, legislators like Murtha move us closer to losing a winnable war and abandoning a worthy ally...Like Vietnam, the American soldier cannot be defeated on the field of battle, only by the failure of the political class to stomach the hardships of combat.
That last line is worth repeating:
Like Vietnam, the American soldier cannot be defeated on the field of battle, only by the failure of the political class to stomach the hardships of combat.
