Defeat from the jaws of victory
Jewish World Review ^ | Dec. 13, 2005 | Joe Scarborough

Have Democrats once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory? Too early to tell but Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are clearly running scared because of liberal chatter the RNC is labeling as "Retreat and Defeat."

Democratic leader Howard Dean says the Iraq War is a lost cause. Not true. But even if it were, I would warn Democratic candidates that they needed to bite their tongue before telling voters US troops can't beat a bunk of jackals who delight in blowing themselves up.

John Kerry recently let it be known that he believed US soldiers were engaging in acts of terror in Iraq.

Not a smart move for a man who lost the 2004 campaign in part because he once accused our men in uniform of committing war crimes.

The Senate's number two Democrat, Dick Durben, compared US troops to Nazis, Stalinist thugs and the Khmer Rouge — three of the 20th Century's deadliest forces.

Good L-rd!

When will my Democratic friends rise up and stick a sock in their leaders' mouths? Only the Democratic Party of Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi could succeed in making today's Republican Party look the only choice in 2006.

But this is what the base of the Democratic Party WANTS to hear.

As long as the "George Bush and the Republicans are evil and everything they say or do is bad" rhetoric keeps flowing from the pie-holes of Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy, the base will keep sending checks to the Democrats.

Some choice...

The party of big spending, no immigration reform, SS reform and shamless Pork or the big spnding, no imigration reform, SS reform and shameless Pork.

The only real substantive difference is in the Republicans (most of them) get it that Islam only understands the way of the gun and sword.

I believe in you compairson that one party is for SS reform and one is against SS reform, but otherwise your critique is gooog.
You are of course right that one party is prosecuting the War on Terror and one party wants to "bring the troops home". I would add that one party is appointing Supreme Court justices that make good sense. I believe the Democrats are going to hurt a long time for their choice of leaders, but this is why we cheered when Dean and Pelosi took charge of the party.

He used to be one of my favorites. He was great during the impeachment of Clinton!

He's become another populist whiner.

Bad edit job on my part. Neither want SS reform. Talk is cheap and while republicans say they want it their lack of action speaks volumes.

I have one criticism of the war in Iraq and that is we didn't have enough troops on the ground. Another 100,000 or so and we could have been able to tell Iran to knock it off and do something about it if need be.

Millions of us right wind dems have decided to vote for the republicans. The democrat party has been taken over by the socialists and many of us right wing democrats have not voted for the socialists (dems) for the last 30 years.

I hope you are not so naive as to think the "Republicans have the Governorships, Senate and House because of their political acumen. (the Bushies have the presidency)

People like myself, and the Zell Miller and Ronald Reagan types of democrats have by the millions voted for the alternative to the socialists -the dumb gutless politically inept Republicans.(Reagan even switched and joined the Republican Party)

With leadership like Bob Dole, Trent Lott ,Orin Hatch and Bill Frist there is no way the Repubs could win on their own.

They win by default, because many of us right wing dems hate the socialists, and won't vote for them.

I would bet many right wing dems are on the sidelines because voting for a Republican is anathema to them. Maybe they will vote Repub now that the Socialist(dems) show they are also anti-American and treasonous.

So I implore my right wing democratic friends not to vote for the socialists (dems) - Stay home- or if you can bring yourself to do it, vote for a conservative Republican, please no more Rinos.

Because of their year in year out association with the aggresive Bushies, some of the Repubs are getting a backbone.

Just a week or so ago the Repub speaker of the house took a stand on the "Christmas tree" side as opposed to the "Holiday tree" side. That's progress. - tom

Sorry, I don't think the GOP has the cajones to deal with the Muslims because the GOP always seems so worried about what the MSM will think.

The MSM rips the GOP every time the GOP opens their mouths....the MSM is STILL the Main Stream Media....they rip any pubbie that dares stand up to the Dem mantra....you wanna be a politician and speak your principles and have all of the MSM slam you from dusk til dawn??...just look at the heat that one congresswoman took from the MSM when she quoted a Marine concerning Murtha's cut and run policy...she was skewered and eaten for lunch....

As I said...

The old saying is true: if you can't stand the heat...

The GOP knows the turf and they know the enemy.

The only Reep who knows how to fight the Dems is Cheney. He told that puke Patrick Leahy to, "Go f*** yourself!" and then not only refused to apologize for it he said it was long overdue!

We need more Reeps like him instead of pussies who run scared whenever they get bad press.

Or with the same number of troops we could have leveled more of the country. Our problem was that we were not prepared for an easy surrender and let everyone escape to their homes and plot a resistance. We were also not willing to level towns and villages when we were attacked. In short we were too nice with an enemy that perceives nice as a weakness. The democrats would not have been there, so they don't have a clue about a better way to do business.
