SB-403, Personal Protection Act, Wisconsin Assembly, live debate thread, 12/13/2005
Wisconsin State Assembly ^ | 12/13/05 | Senator ZIEN, Representative GUNDERSON,

Posted on 12/13/2005 6:20:02 AM PST by Monitor

Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly debates SB-403:

"This bill creates a licensing system under which an individual is permitted to carry a concealed weapon under certain circumstances. The bill also makes certain changes in Wisconsin law to account for a federal law that requires the state to permit an individual who works as or who has retired from working as a federal, state, tribal, or local law enforcement officer in Wisconsin or in any other state to carry a concealed firearm under certain circumstances. In addition, the bill changes the law relating to background checks for handgun purchases to require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to determine whether a person seeking to purchase a handgun has been subject to an order or finding regarding his or her mental health that makes the purchase unlawful."

Ok, it's all about culture, right? One guy says our culture has too many guns, another guys says we're the safest state in the world. And now we're back to too many guns killing us here.

I would like to know how many of the dead would be alive today if they could have defended themselves with guns.

"Conscience Clause", eh?

How about Personal Responsibility Clause? Are police going to be there to protect my asset next time? Doubtful! So it's MY responsibility to protect myself, in and out of my home! And that goes for everyone one else in this state!

LOL! Yeah, maybe... Sounds good, almost breakfast time. Hope your stream hangs in there. Mine's getting a bit choppy, too, but no long delays.

Gunderson is talking about Alaska - is he going to bring up the fact that they don't require permits?

You know, I just have to wonder.

All this crying, weaping, and wrending of garments as if this bill is the end of the world leads me to believe that these liberals actually believe the nonsense they're spouting. I mean, it's almost 3AM, they can't be spouting this nonsense for the cameras, so they must really believe it.

So how do they handle the reality that exists in all the other states that have passed CCW, and yet have never attempted to rescend it? If it is as they say, that we're going to have shootouts over parking spaces, and in Chuck-E-Cheeze, then what explains all the other states? The other states must just be, in their eyes, insane or something?

I just don't get it. Is the reality I live in different than the reality they live in?

It's simple.

Repeat after me: They're DEMOCRATS!

They are so divorced from facts and reality.

Seriously, they've got a solid hold on Wisconsin, don't they? Between Madison and the media, Wisconsin hears what they want us to hear. If you want the truth, you have to find it out for yourself. There are so many who aren't aware of all the states and their successes with CCW, that think they have the constitutional right to protection from police, etc. I did a survey for school on this and almost every single person I surveyed thought the police are obligated to protect people. Surprise! They aren't!

Hard to say. Socialists only say what they mean if it furthers their manipulation toward their greater goal. Bucking for a better slot when Bingo gets dumped?

"they can't be spouting this nonsense for the cameras, so they must really believe it."

They do believe it. They don't want anyone to shoot Tookie. He's a human being you know! He could reform and be a role model. Besides, they'll just hold the tapes 'till tomorrow morning.
