Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly debates SB-403:
"This bill creates a licensing system under which an individual is permitted to carry a concealed weapon under certain circumstances. The bill also makes certain changes in Wisconsin law to account for a federal law that requires the state to permit an individual who works as or who has retired from working as a federal, state, tribal, or local law enforcement officer in Wisconsin or in any other state to carry a concealed firearm under certain circumstances. In addition, the bill changes the law relating to background checks for handgun purchases to require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to determine whether a person seeking to purchase a handgun has been subject to an order or finding regarding his or her mental health that makes the purchase unlawful."

That could be it, too. Don't know. It kind of caught me off guard.

I was in the Assembly gallery for a little while this evening before they started on the Personal Protection Act. There were only about a half dozen people watching the proceedings when I was there.</p>
To: Ronaldus Magnus
Did they actually start it? It sounded like it was possible next on the agenda and then they went into this "informal" whatever... What is that?

They were considering some other bill when I was there. It was a much smaller crowd than last time around two years ago.

Any guesses as to what'll happen tonight? I can stay right here and keep studying if it doesn't get too ungodly late.

I can stay right here and keep studying if it doesn't get too ungodly late.I don't think they'd be in partisan caucuses unless they were busy arm twisting and counting votes. If they weren't planning on doing something more tonight, they would have adjourned for the evening.
BTW, the Assembly's insession web site is already showing the schedule for the 15th. SB-403 is still listed on today's schedule.
Just my guess, though, FWIW.

I'm guessing that the PPA will be pushed to tomorrow so I'm hitting the hay. Good luck on whatever you are studying for, I presume your final.
To: Ronaldus Magnus
Yes, I am. Thank you. Sleep well.

LOL!
The longer this goes on, the more I worry about all the extra "ingredients" the cooks are sticking into our sausage.
