The United States on Tuesday International Atomic Energy Agency head Mohamed ElBaradei's call to state explicitly that it has no plans to launch a military strike against Iran.
The spokesman for the State Department in Washington asserted that at this point the burden of proof lies with the Iranians, and they must follow through with their commitments to the international community.
ElBaradei claimed that an announcement in which the US insists it would not attack, might encourage Iran to cease its nuclear development plans, according to Israel Radio.
Robert Joseph, the US Secretary of State's aide said last week that he believed Iran would not back down from its nuclear ambitions and would even risk UN sanctions.
It's somewhat off subject, but I had a friend at NYU who had, as one of his responsibilities, the job of sending an annual card to the Shah complimenting him on his birthday. I think they were fishing for a chair in Iranian studies at some time in the future. Too bad Jimmy Carter screwed it up.
Look, you think the nuclear reactor that was attacked was in Iran (WRONG NATION) and your buddy here thinks Israel has aircraft carriers (WRONG NAVY).
You are complaining that "I come across as one who knows everything . . ."
Is it possible that you two come across as two people who don't know their facts and history (that you don't know anything would be the proper contrast to your comment).
It is clear that you two come across as two who don't know the facts, instead of me as someone who knows everything. I have had to spend my time correcting history and pointing out false statements (Israel has aircraft carriers! Israel attacked "Iran's" nuclear reactor). You stated the wrong nation, and your buddy stated the wrong navy!
C'mon!
Good answer!
Carter is a bumbling idiot. He personally has done a lot of harm to the US. I guess that he was too busy lusting in his heart to think clearly.
"...US insists it would not attack, (it) might encourage Iran to cease its nuclear development plans, according to Israel Radio."
Is this for real? This guy is actually asking this? "might encourage"???!!!
I thought this was sarc./scrappleface.
You just can't make this stuff up.
You sure are an arrogant bustard..,
Kiss my grits...
As I stated I was wrong about Israel having Aircraft Carriers. The conversation was not built on the premise of what Israel has, although they do have a good Navy with warships, frigates and destroyers and plenty of missiles and large guns and a deployable force of 15,000 (granted not all currently deployed, my bad) and even a Navy Base at the Red Sea, it was about getting to Iran contrary to your notion that Israel can't get there.
Corrections are accepted but if you're going to quote me be very accurate and if your going to accuse me of doing drugs or having mental problems you better have some proof to back your allegation.
What the Shah that replaced a democratically elected Government, yeah I'm sure the Iranians would love the son of THAT Shah.
Do you really think the Shiite majority of Iraq would be keen on having their country used thus by America to attack another Shiite country?
Rightly or wrongly Chamberlain is the symbol of the appeasenik movement in the US and GB, then and now. A shame since Joshua Chamberlain was such a great Civil War hero and statesman.
Pour l'encourager les autres.
We like Serbs here. We are sorry for what our country did to yours.
I know two Iranians. One is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. In fact, I wouldn't know she was iranian if you didn't tell me. The other is a snake, I wouldn't let her out of my sight for one minute.
Oh, I know one more. I think he's ok, because he's admitted to me he's a bad muslim, but he's still a rug trader at heart. The first five things he tells you are damn lies.
Nothing is off the table.
The fact that you don't know Iraq from Iran given the high profile both have at the moment with the abundance of information available is frankly scary. It is astonishing that you advocate beligerence and then demonstrate such a dirth of strategic knowledge.
"I told my Wife, we'll keep an eye on them, just in case."
More like you should keep a 'scope' on them.
