While most Israeli Jews rank Palestinians first on their hostility scale, left-wing Israelis hate settlers more, new survey reveals
Israelis who support the left-wing parties are more hostile toward Jewish settlers than they are toward the Palestinians, a new survey reported by Israels leading newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth on Monday revealed.
The survey, which was conducted by Prof. Dalia Mor of The College of Management in Rishon Letzion, aimed at examining the attitudes of 500 Jewish respondents toward the different sectors in Israeli society: Ashkenaz Jews, Sepharadic Jews, secular Jews, settlers, ultra-orthodox Jews, rightists, leftists, Israeli-Arabs, Palestinians, new immigrants, settlers and foreign workers.
The survey revealed that the public most hated by the Jewish population are the Palestinians, followed by the settlers.
However, with respondent who defined themselves left-wing supporters, hostility toward the settlers ranked higher (67 percent), than hostility toward the Palestinians (55 percent).
Haredi Jews ranked third on the list, while among religious and right-wing respondents, the spot was reserved for Israeli leftists.
Sepharadic Jews, however, rated both the Arabs and the settlers in third place.
FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel/Russian Jewry ping list.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
Not unlike left-right politics in the West.
One thing you can count on in this world is that, no matter where you go, hard-core Communists always detest the people who really believe in God.
The left is a very large segment there.
Who do you prefer more;
Israeli Arabs
or
Religeous Israeli Jews
bump
Not a surprise. Their attitudes toward settlers are evident on a daily basis from news reports.
You can also generalize about all leftists, and not just Israeli leftists. Leftists are remarkably good at hating, whatever the designated targets of their hatred might be. They have an inbred habit of dividing people into classes. I certain persons belong to the wrong class, then they hate them, regardless of what sort of people they might actually be.
Democrats don't hate Bush because he trips over his tongue, or comes from Texas. They hate him because he belongs to two designated groups they agree to hate: Christians and Republicans.
Over the course of the 20th century, the left had a habit of exterminating whole classes of people they disapproved of, by the millions. The Nazis were famous for killing people who belonged to forbidden groups, yet Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and other Communist dictators killed far more.
Moreover, it's only by the twisted definitions of leftists that Nazis and Fascists are labeled as conservatives. In actual fact, Mussolini was trained as a Communist, and the German Nazis were National SOCIALISTS, just two more twisted, deadly products of the leftist utopian vision that sees everyone who disagrees with them or is different from them as hateful.
So the left sides with those who sided with the nazis. What's the surprise?
Yes, May 1st parades.
Good post.
I always find it interesting that we keep hearing that the Nazis were right wing when they acted so violently and aggressively against the Catholic Church. One of their first moves was to shut down all the Catholic publications in Germany. It was eventually a crime, sometmes punished by death, to listen to Vatican radio in Germany.
And yet all of this gets swept under the carpet, we have men like that Cornwell fool who write books like Hitler's Pope, and we're supposed to believe that they were all one big happy, evil family.
And Japan and Europe and Canada and even in the good old USA.
There are May Day parades all over the Globe.
Too many socialists out there- all over.
There's also the question of Otto von Bismark, who might be considered the father of modern Germany. He too persecuted Catholics, back in the 1870s, because he saw them as an obstacle to his project of "modernizing" Germany.
What does it mean to modernize? It's not exactly a conservative preoccupation. Sure, Bismark was an aristocrat, but that doesn't mean he was conservative.
You might say the same about Ezra Pound. He cooperated with the Nazis and was filled with antisemitism, but he was also an iconoclastic modernizer in poetry. To call him a conservative is to twist the language.
Duh.
Of course, there's always the chance that some of those surveyed were Pat Buchanan-style rightwingers, provided there's any difference between them and Israeli leftists to begin with.
"Haredi Jews ranked third on the list, while among religious and right-wing respondents, the spot was reserved for Israeli leftists.
Sepharadic Jews, however, rated both the Arabs and the settlers in third place."
