The Administration has been, as Brit Hume pointed out afterwards on Fox News, NOT to claim any direct connection between Iraq and 9/11. Democrats, detractors, and reporters (overlapping groups) have made that false charge. The Administration HAS stated and established direct connections between Saddam and Al Qaeda, which is a different question.
We need to be careful, as the Adminsration has been, in separating those two issues.

I spent a weekend on another forum trying to document what Bush has said and to dispel the notion that he ever tied Saddam to 911..He indeed has,as have democrats and others , tied him to having connections to Al Queda and assorted terrorists..

We need to be careful, as the Adminsration has been, in separating those two issues. Indeed. It's amazing how many around here still don't see the difference. And it's even more amazing how the media intentionally (yes, I'll say intentionally) puts out misleading reports.

I wish Bush had put that person in their place and answered the question by questioning the 'premise' of the question itself. Would have been a perfect opportunity to dispel one of the left's favorite myths. But, KUDOS to him for the Q&A. That alone went to the heart of the charges that he only gives speeches to favorable audiences (military).
