No I've asked for published proof. Last time I checked my bathroom wall still holds my degree in history.

Further my Grandfather was at Gallipoli (a gunner on the british side) so no love lost on this guy. However, you just simply state a few "facts" with no proof and expect me to accept them.

I agree with you 100%. Although Ataturk fought against Britain and Russia during World War I, historically, he is considered one of the great men of the 20th century for his reforms, which dragged Turkey kicking and screaming into the 20th century. He may or may not have been at least partially responsible for what happened to the Armenians, but if he had not done what he did in terms of modernization, we would be facing today another Islamofascist state, one that could have been potentially more powerful and threatening than Iran.

BTW, why would Rome want to put up a statue of Ataturk? Seems like Istanbul would be a better place for it.
