Georgia surrounds capital of South Ossetia
REGNUM ^ | December 5, 2005

Posted on 12/11/2005 4:49:39 PM PST by jb6

The Georgian party blocked the section of the Transcaucasus Road between the villages of Tamarasheni and Kekhvi (mostly populated by Georgians) in the zone of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict, and stopped the traffic of vehicles with South Ossetian car-plates on the road between Tskhinvali and Tamarasheni. Thus, the South Ossetian capital turned out to be cut from major roads to Russia and Georgia. Only Zar by-pass road can be used, but it has recently been subjected to shelling.

“Actions of the Georgian party are provoking and aimed at artificially deteriorating the situation in the conflict zone,” the Joint Peacekeeping Forces’ Headquarters believe. They also stressed in the headquarters, that blockade of the road was in conflict with all the agreements made earlier at the meetings of the Joint Control Commission.

Don't get between a Euro-tyrant and his Lebensraum.

I don't know what Soros is doing, but it is pretty clear what the Russians are trying to do: keep as much of Moldova as they can. Moldova was seized from Romania by Stalin, and Putin does not wish to give it up.

I keep telling you: Never, never, never trust the Russians.

You do realize that Ossessia is about 2,000 km away from Moldova, right? The South Ossessians survived attempted extermination and won defunct independence, they demand unification with North Ossessia (think Belsan) in the Russian federation.

Actually parts of Moldova were colonized by the Tsars and Moldova as a whole was an independent nation between invasions by Hungarians, Turks, Poles and Russians and eventual annexation by Romania.

Russia has been stirring up trouble in Georgia, especially in South Ossetia, ever since the Berlin Wall fell.

Russia is following the Kosovo example in their Balkanization of the Caucasus. Your cries of "ethnic cleansing" are just like the attacks on the Serbs.

"In the Balkans, the ongoing separation of Kosovo from Serbia could serve as a precedent and model for conflict-resolution on Russia's terms" - Gleb Pavlovsky

"Georgian and Russian media are already speculating on possible developments in South Ossetia and Abkhazia in the event of UN recognition of Kosovo's independence. The headline "Awaiting Kosovo Precedent" introduced an article in 24 Saati that mentioned two resolutions in support of independence for Kosovo that several American congressmen submitted to the House of Representatives in December 2004 and January 2005. Some Russian policymakers are already arguing that independence of Kosovo will allow Moscow to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia." - LINK

Situation in Georgia is even worse than in Moldova, because Russia hasa common border with two separatistic regimes.
