WASHINGTON - The U.S. Congress will reach an agreement with the White House on a defense bill that would ban the torture and inhumane treatment of detainees, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said on Sunday. Frist said on Fox News Sunday that negotiators were discussing the issue of "degrading" suspects.

Are you referring to the legislation or stupid Bill Frist? ;-)
I hate to use the word incompetence, but that would be too strong. Instead, it's just a RINO that thinks he's appealing to average Americans.
And somehow, they still don't have the time to confirm Alito either, but can discuss a torture bill.
Meanwhile, our imprisoned scum are collecting turds to lob at their sesitivity-trained guards. Disgusting! If one of 'em threw their dumpings at me, I'd make 'em eat it - that'd bring it to a stop right quick. A better idea would be to mail the imprisoned turds to the turds in DC.
That is a good question i never quite thought of it that way.
[Frist] "I think there will be clarification of what we mean, how aggressive can one be to get information?" said Frist, who did not specify what would be banned.
"What does degrading mean? Do you not want to degrade a terrorist, not hurt them, but degrade them, if they are going to take out your family, if they are going to assassinate you? That's the question that is being worked out," he said.
Frist voted for the amendment pushed by McCain, who was tortured while a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
"An agreement will be reached and we will come to some understanding which will allow us in ways consistent with our values, that is legal, to get the appropriate information to protect us," the Tennessee Republican said.

These "senators" are real morons. NO ONE HAS EVER WON A WAR USING POLITICALLY CORRECT TACTICS. McCain, of all people, should know better. Having a little proof that Americans have actually been "torturing" these whinyass, Islamic terrorists wouldn't hurt either.
BTW: These damn captured terrorists whine more than DemocRATS.
Charles Krauthammer wrote a piece that said that the bill was and inevitable reaction to the Administration's lack of a clear, transparent policy on the treatment of detainees. That sounds like a reasonable explaination to me.
They are appealing to the Socialists in the international community.

Supporters say the amendment would protect U.S. forces. "If we're going to teach the Iraqis ethics and values and close down these secret prisons, we've got to practice what we preach," Graham said. "And If we exempt our own troops from the application of international or domestic law, then we will set in motion forces that will hurt our troops in future conflicts."
[Sen Graham]"There is a breakdown along how to best protect the troops. There is a philosophical difference here I don't want to divulge," the South Carolina Republican said, when asked if the White House was seeking immunity for possible past torture.
-end snip-
First I have yet to hear of any allegations of actual torture on the part of any us forces anywhere.
That said I hope the compromise is "We'll only do it to the bad guys."
The Administration would veto this d*mn stupid bill if it had any stones - which it doesn't!
It's quite simple. In the middle of a war, the Senate has put politics before warfighting. The Dept of Defense is operating without an approved budget for the first quarter of the year.
No, the word incompetent is not too strong. It fits most Senators to a `T', including many Republican Senators.
In fact, I do not understand how many incompetent individuals get elected as our representatives. I guess it shows how stupid we are.
In God We Trust!
And a big MERRY CHRISTMAS!
If this stupid bunch of Senators pass this bill to President Bush, he should veto the entire bill and send it back. Then he should raise some hell with that RINO McNut. McNut is a danger to America.
I don't think Bill Frist is stupid.
An ass, perhaps, but not stupid.
Merry Christmas to you as well. Now don't take a mulligan. :)
