[ Returning to the topic of his father's competence, Wallace Jr. explained: "He's checked out. I don't understand it," beyond the fact that Wallace Sr. has "problems with the war." , "I don't know why he said what he said," he added. ]

I know WHY?.. because we owe it to him.. Due to his long years of being a news reader.. He is owed deference by the smucks hes served faithfully spinning the news and passing on his opinion.. After all we are only "the masses", "the Bourgeoisie ", "the Opiated religious".. The fooled and brain washed capitalists much too foolish, to see the brilliance for socialism.. you know slavery by government..

Its wise to remember the apple don't fall far from the tree either.. Chris is a stone socialist too.. a brown pot calling the other black.. We owe him..

Je's going crazy KNOWING that he CAUSED Anwar Sadat's assassination!! He said to the Ayatollah, "These are ot MY words, these are Anwar Sadat's words and he says you are insane". Anwar Sadat was killed a couple of days later....

JMHO, but the classy thing for Chris Wallace would have been to say "no comment," and leave it at that. Business is business, and politics is politics, but what goes in a family should stay in the family. There are plenty of things I disagree about with other members of my family, but I'd never call them out on it in public--especially if it was the byprodduct of some mental disorder.

"What in the world prepared you to be the commander in chief of the largest superpower in the world? In your background, Mr. President, you apparently were incurious. You didn't want to travel. You knew very little about the military. . . . The governor of Texas doesn't have the kind of power that some governors have. . . . Why do you think they nominated you? . . . Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that the country is so [expletive] up?"

But Bill Clinton is highly qualified????

This is a really sad thing, to see someone with such a long, distinguished career hang on so long that he starts to embarass himself. It must be brutal for Chris to witness it.

That said, the one image I will always have of Mike Wallace is of him interviewing Vladimir Putin; when Putin mildly mentioned his faith in God, Wallace waggled his hands about in the air and rolled his eyes upwards (in what I guess was supposed to represent how religious people behave) and said something like, "So GOD (waggle) makes your decisions for you?" It was just a complete ridiculing of the man's faith right to his face.

So long, old dinosaur media. Can't say we'll miss you.

I wonder what Wallace the Younger thinks of Dad's upcoming interview with Ahmadinejad?

It must be difficult for Chris W. to do a decent journalistic job when dear ol' dad is clearly insane and won't S T F U. He had to make SOME statment in response to Mike's statements about Bush and about Iran, and he made the right one. Maybe it's not "nice" to diss a parent, but it's not "nice" for a parent to be a traitor, eithe.

I heard Mike Wallace on the Hannity show yesterday covering his meeting with the Iranian president.

The poor old man is obviously starting to dodder. I'd expect that he's afflicted with oncoming Alzheimer's disease.

I've also heard people say that those who know they're close to the grave have a tendency to speak magnanimously about even the worst sort of people. It's as if they're performing some sort of penance by trying to be a peacemaker, knowing that soon they'll have left this world and won't have to deal with any repercussions or answer for any of their failed do-gooder actions. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to sit and politely nod our heads, because after all, these words were said by an elderly man with one foot in the grave and we're bound to set aside rationale and respect what they say.

I say 'phooey' to that.
