My guess is it's decided at each individual network, every talk show host I have met either has their own input or is dependent to some degree or other on show producers.

He is a weak man.

Worse, IMO .. he's a sissy man .. and he was in the military??? For God's sake, he reminds me of the lily-livered, amoral creep who was Gene Hackman's operative in "No Way Out" .. the first big splash of Kevin Costner .. about setups, intrigue, scandal, and espionage in the politics, CIA, Pentagon, etc. ..the guy LIVED to please and coverup for his boss .. and in the end was the traitorous, sickening and dispensable tool. (I loved that movie ;).

Why lurk? Speak up.

There is no good reason why the things you mentioned should be downplayed. And we've seen the result of the Republicans not having either the knowledge or the smarts to use the talking points that we use here.

It's infuriating and when it comes to national security, it's dangerous to let people think the war in Iraq is a mistake or based on lies. It's given comfort to the enemy to see the disagreement on the war in this country, let alone it may do in future elections.

Albright: I said Hussein has WMD, but I never thought he'd use them "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 Liar, liar, nasty pants on fire!

And the thought never occurred to Halfbright that Saddam might erase Israel with a nuke? Didn't Saddam have missiles that exceeded the UN resolution limit? No, that is never brought up by the MSM when discussing WMD. It is so much Bull Sh$t that one cannot take it anymore.

That's an excellent article; thank you for the link. I am deeply disappointed that so many Republicans have signed on to this "no torture" mantra from the left and my husband wrote Lindsey Graham a lengthy letter about that, as well as other positions Graham as endorsed.

From the article:

Nor can opponents of torture say that it is entirely foreign to the U.S. military experience, at least from what we know of it even in so-called good wars like World War II. There were American soldiers — sometimes in furor over the loss of comrades, sometimes to obtain critical information — who executed or tortured captured Japanese and German prisoners. Those who did so operated on a de facto "don't ask, don't tell" understanding, occasionally found it effective and were rarely punished by commanding officers. Even so, G.I.s never descended to the levels of depravity common in the Wehrmacht or the Soviet and Imperial Japanese armies.

There is also not much to the argument that our employment of torture will only embolden the enemy to barbarously treat Americans held captive. What a silly idea! Captured Americans have already been filmed being beheaded — or shot or burned — and their mutilated corpses hung up for public ridicule.

Chris Wallace handled the 'Tookie' interviews with Bianca Jaggar and the prosecutor who sent Williams to prison quite well. Bianca came right out of the barn attacking the prosecutor and telling a lie by accusing him (sorry, don't recall his name)of being a racist because of dropping two potential jurors. He explained that both had asked to be excused and gave their reasons. She was more intent on attacking him than addressing the facts which resulted in the death sentence for Tookie. By Bianca's reasoning, any person sentenced to death simply needs to find somebody to help them construct and coauthor a sympathetic book for their rehabilitation resume, and avoid the carrying out of the death sentence for several decades, to have their sentence commuted. For her, the lives of the four people he mercilessly killed are less relevant than is Tookie's. Chris was very fair in giving the prosecutor time to respond to Jaggar.

From my understanding and how it work in Britain the show ask who they want. They sometimes may be offered certain people but in the end the asking is the show and down to the individual if they appear unless their party has told them to do so if asked.

What makes ANYONE believe the TERRORISTS are going to play nice and not TORTUE? Isn't beheading playing a little rough for the sandbox kids? I don't get it I guess I am too dumb for the likes of these pussy footing politicians. McLame gets it but he is running for Pres so wants to make sure whatever sounds good gets to the masses, who never think anyway. Just stare at the tooob

McCain has also argued that torture does not work. But in his autobiography, he says that he submitted to torture in order to get medical treatment and told his captors what they wanted to know.

He details what that was that they wanted to know, but I don't recall what it was. Something about what his mission was and where.

Sen. Graham, MTP Dec. 11, 2005:...if in the name of winning this war, we've set aside the laws that we've adhered to for 60 years, we will lose our way as a nation, we'll lose the moral force that we've been and we can't win the war if we do that.

How do you respond to a befuddled Moderate spouting meaningless platitudes such as these? The Islamofascists don't give a damn for any sort of law except those ravings coming from the mouths of their demented leaders.

In the midst of war, what laws have been adhered to for "60 years", Lindsey? I think that he is really trying to say that there are certain provisions dealing with hostilities that have been generally followed in time of war. But there has never been and never will be absolute adherence to "laws" that would ensure defeat in war.

A war cannot be fought with referees on every corner to ensure that the slightest infraction is dealt with; winning is the only thing that matters. Can you imagine FDR being hounded by members of his own party to explain the necessity of bombing civilian populations?

America is in grave danger from within.

Lindsay Grahm has been bashing the President, The Administration and fellow Republicans for the last 3 years.

He didn't just bash the President and the Administration

Saying that the VP "goes too far in protecting the military" who are trying to get information to protect american lives is beyond the pale

Lindsey seemed more concerned about the safety of Saddam's defense attorney's then he was about the troops that are protecting those lawyers ... And us

Lindsey Graham can go to hell as far as I'm concern

Graham, I've noticed, can't seem to look anyone in the eye. Perhaps it's shame over getting elected under false pretenses. I hope there is someone in SC who can clean his clock in the '08 primaries.

Lindsey is a lawyer ... and lawyers will NOT win us this war

If I recall .. wasn't it the Lawyers in the Pentagon that stopped us from taking out Bin Laden when we had the opportunity back in the beginning of the Afghan war??

I'm just grateful some "contractor" has the assignment for injecting concrete into the RINOS' spines and reprogramming them in their abandoned skills of self-defense and patriotism. That guy oughta get a medal ... and I STILL think we're missing Karen Hughes' and Ari's input mightily.

Have you ever watched the new show E-Ring? We've watched it about 5 times and if half of what is portrayed is accurate as to what goes on in the Pentagon, we're in serious trouble. They don't make a MOVE without consulting their attorney on duty.

No matter how they formulate theit platform for '06, they will alienate 25-30% of thier people. Those poor misguided folks will just fail to show up at the polls.
