for five weeks this summer, producer Grace Cutler, cameraman John Templeton, myself and others crisscrossed the country to see how folks were faring.

In the days to come we would go to places where most TV crews choose not to tread To find out what real Iraqis are thinking. Like along Main Street in the Karada district of Baghdad. Lined with appliance stores on both sides, it looks like an open air Circuit City.
[...]
The Iraqi Stock Exchange was an even bigger eye opener. On the day we were there the single trading room was packed with brokers shouting out their buy and sell orders. Investors and company owners look on from the sidelines and bark out comments.
[...]
I even met Iraq's "Money Honey," a female stockbroker whose looks match her hot trading skills. In the back of my mind though there was a terrible thought. All it would take is one guy with explosives strapped around his waist to send this market crashing harder than 1929.

Our next stop was up to the northern area of Kurdistan. In the old days (pre-war and just post-war) you could drive it in about five to six hours. If a foreigner did that now he'd be writing his death warrant. So we decided to fly. To help patronize a burgeoning Iraqi economy, we decided to take the just ramping-up Iraqi Airways.

As for Kurdistan: Wow! I had been there several times and it had always been a pretty relaxing break from the ugliness of Saddam and post-Saddam Iraq. Now it is nothing short of a boom town with construction cranes everywhere and shops and restaurants doing sizzling business.

It's amazing the lengths Fox will go to to cover up the fact that we're losing, the troops are demoralized and exhausted, and Iraq is doomed. It's almost like we're not getting an accurate picture from other media outlets and the Democrats.
I am SO glad they are repeating this...it must have gotten a LOT of people e-mailing...for them to repeat it so fast.
I remember the night it was on...there was a LIVE thread...but a lot of freepers missed it..
Hopefully there will be a LIVE thread again tomorrow night...I will be watching again.
My Mom watches CNN and MSNBC all day long. She has a crush on Anderson Cooper because of his Katrina coverage. I am specifically taping it for her! (She thinks Iraq is Viet Nam all over again).
BTTP for all the FReepers that missed it the first time!
Good luck if you can get her to watch it...
I just cannot believe that anyone could watch it and come away STILL thinking that we should never have gone...and should withdraw now.
Does she know Anderson is a closet Republican (in more ways than one)?
Yeah, almost...
It was a great hour of television. I highly recommend it to anyone who missed it!
Good deal. Also: EMAIL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
I think she will have a change of heart. Besides, she is a sucker for human interest stories.... and the stories in this show are very powerful.
I told her he was a butt pirate... I didn't know about the Republican thing.
BTTT!!
I still wish it would be made "required viewing" by all Congresscritters~~~
They know what is going on. They choose to ignore it.
I got this email from Fox after sending an email telling them I thought this special was awesome:
Hi,
Im Betsy Petrick, associate producer of the Winning Iraq: The Untold Story documentary that aired December 3 on Fox News Channel.
Your mail was brought to my attention by Brian Gaffney, executive producer of the Winning Iraq: The Untold Story documentary.

Please spread the word.

So then-email with feedback on any show they air--they do read and respond to emails. And email them after they show this again Sunday night so that they will show it AGAIN~and again~and again :)

And: GOOD JOB!
If only they had Cutie Cudley
