Last week there was a SA euphonium player(!?) on station at the Kmart.
Since I heard about the Corporate PC bigots harassing Salvation Army, they are getting a lot more money from me and my family throughout the year. The Boy Scouts gets a lot more money, too.
MomMD's account of the P.C. stuff during Katrina worries me. She should contact the National office and report whoever did this. I would like to see the response.
I thank you for giving and wish you a Merry Chrtistmas.
I was not looking for approval, just an acknowledgment that my contribution was appreciated.
Corporations that tell the Salvation Army to stay away are telling ME to stay away, too.
And so I will.
I'm done with them. Now I need to check out Lowes and Borders. Worse comes to worse I'll buy strictly from Amazon.
In Wisconsin...Culver's Restaurants have the Salvation Army
mini Kettle right in front on the counter next to the cash
register..
Good people... Good food...Sensational Custard
I haven't been in a Target since they announced their policy, and I won't go there, I don't care if they were selling 67 Chev Impala convertibles for $50.00!!
Didn't they also at one time do something that really trashed the Boy Scouts? I can't remember exactly...
I shop my local Kroger several times a week and am pleased to see the bell ringers. I do not need to be noticed when I drop a buck or ten.
SA bellringer was in front of Kohl's department store in Nassau County,NY
Salvation Army was posted outside of Trader Joe's. I enjoyed giving them my business.
I don't either, but thank you for the thank you. I just thought it was odd.
united Way is the largest single donor to planned parenthood, a/k/a abortions-r-us.
Maybe we should sing the Salvation Army Song as a gesture of support:
Leland's Salvation Army Song
(Put a nickel on the drum)
I was lyin' in the gutter, all covered up with beer!
Pretzels in my eyebrows, I knew the end was near,
When along come the Salvation Army (meaning Fremont)
and saved me from the hearse.
Everybody come along, let's sing that second verse:
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Put a nickel on the drum, save another drunken bum!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Put a nickel on the drum and you'll be saved!
Oh, G-L-O-R-Y, to be S-A-V-E-D!
I'm so H-A-P-P-Y that I'm F-R-double-E (hee-hee!)!
F-R-double-E from the ways of S-I-N!
Glory, glory, hallelujah, tra-la-la-l'-amen!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Put a nickel on the drum, save another drunken bum!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Put a nickel on the drum and you'll be saved!
the problem the SA has, is rogue officers, running their churches the way they see fit.. and if one of them thinks he has to compromise to get along, then it happens. The problem behind this, IMHO, is the fact that there is no such thing as a married male officer running a church on his own.. he has his wife, considered a co-officer, running it too.. and I'm a strong believer that liberalism starts with the ladies pushing their men to be "kinder and gentler" instead of letting them run the show. But, just my opinion.
"I would like someone to explain to me why these large stores and corporations are behaving in this way."
Because the SA recognizes Jesus Christ as the Savior, and these corporations are Christophobic.
"I've been mailing bigger donations to the Salvation Army and not shopping at those stores banning them. I hope others are doing likewise."
Count me in as one of the likewise.
Some of the bell-ringers at Wal-Mart and Sam's have been Boy Scouts this year. They get more money from me. Parents are there with them - have even been seranaded by the kids. Walgreens is the only other place I have seen the SA red buckets.
